On this week's episode of tripleadvantage, we dive into a storm of news with the Fay wild, strict saving andLexandrian unlimited. Next, we complete our journey through the travel sectionof the Dungeon Master's guide. And finally, we reminisce with the societyabout some of our favorite critical role: moments as always be sure tofollow us on our social media and see what we have in store for you enjoy. The show o come members of the society toanother week, yet another episode of triple advantage. He I'm joined by the regular crew brainJordan. How are you doing pretty great? I think ye ready to talk about some dand indeed, and by all. I think this hasbeen one of the most busy weeks of releases are not releases, but ratherannouncements for our echoes of the wild and segmentand to cover them all quickly. We should just start out- and I think,Charolai Al Well Hm. Let's see, let's go with the wizard's crinological order. Here we have two announcements made to no books coming out the wild beyondthe witch light, a new campaign book coming out from Wizards to the coast, and we also have strict haven a curriculum of chaos. Now Wild to thewitch lands is. Finally, I think the first adventure set in the Fay wild orlens with Fay wild elements within it, which is pretty exciting. I think it'sbeen long waited and just are, and I think we really stall like it's a it's, not something that Iknow very much about, and I think that's because at least in five year wehaven't had too much far related stories and quests. So I'm essentialLord more an I'm, a cental earn how wizards is going to going to dive into this realm of their. I guess multiverse Loki and all the Lterminologies crossed over here, but the planes, the pine, the Fir wild- andI think we touched on this before we definitely touched on this. While wewere doing our defining the Teng. But for those who don't know the Fay wildsits very closely to the material plane and to what I think is always just likethe wild magic craziness that might occur where pretty much anything goes. The I like to think of as like the theAlison Wonderland type of plane, at least the way that I picture its. Whatabout you guys? Yeah? That's, not a bad description. Iwould think it's very much a alison Wanderland was not the metaphor that I had mine, but the onethat I actually had is completely escaping me, but yeah. The general feelof like is the very like whimsical magic place.I definitely I definitely get that. I guess I always just imagine that theFay world is home of the summer court, so the Fay people there are. I always just kind of imagine them aslike. Above you kind of people you know like whatever there are protectors of the wild of nature and that sort ofthing it's almost like a druid's. You know dream dream world where the wild is put put above allelse and then the magic there is, more so of the yeah like a little bit unpredictable, but to a certain extent you know it's going to protect the plants and thewild life, and it also has a lot to do with trickery and miss and that sort ofthing it's. I know it also like there are somerules where you once you go there. You will have ahard time, remembering t if you leave...

...of your time that you spent there andthat's a very like Fay thing to do. You know to messwith your mind and yeah it's a little bit of wild magic, but there is someorder to it for sure. Nothing like spending five months of viral time, your newadventure, how I have it to be wiped from your memory cannon, wise, the funI return. I still we know we talked about them in the past. I still want todo that. One shot right. Well, now you have a whole adventure ly.You could do the first Ay, it's pretty exciting. I think anotherthing I like from just regular wizards, Laura we have the Alizarin elves orfrom the Fay wild and like that's all there I mean, for II'm sure that there has been suffering more for earlier editions of the game, but that's pretty much for my accent to the FAGA ghost I promote. We were read in the in the DM, but I've never actually rananything that they. So I think that this is depending on we're, going to begetting more going to be getting more information on this book as the weeks go on, therelease date is slated as September twenty first, two thousand and twentyone. So we got a couple of months to go before we get physical hands on on this, butyou know, as in the Classic Wizards Way, I'm sure we're going to be seeinglittle teases and UN little releases as we go on, but depending on how thisshapes up. This might be something that I end up. Picking up it's, I generally like the I generallylike the setting and I've been playing around with a couple ideas in my headfor adventures and much hots with say, wild involved and similar to Caltis theadventure. The adventure books provide a great deal of background for any other creative endeavor, so youmight want to sort of stem off of, but we'll be ginning more on this. As theweeks go on and to talk about the next release that hasbeen announced, we have strict Haben a curriculum of chaos. Strick Savin isthe ladis Magic to gathering campaign sing for Dungeons and dragons. So this not a setting book, though right. This is not like the the RAVNA book. I think it is. I could be. It is itssetting sting yes, sir, I guess Riso. I think this for me. Just initially willopen up the doors for law a lot, a lot of content from likecrossover and obviously like this is to be expected, but I know braten. We used to play a magicquite substantially back in the day. Yes, just taking a little aside from thestrick haven announcement, is there any particular MTG? Yes, release that you would be excited to see a dadin a strate in a second trod? I think it would be awesome. Big Ne for rexow be kind of cool newfor ex would be cool. Actually I'd love to see that too, you frexious take itback to like during the war, yeah yeah, nothing like your players, gettingpoisoned counters and just dying, hey but yeah. So we got this now and thenwe've got Ravna and I think that's all they've currently put out, but I feellike didn't they have like A. I think they released like a freelittle thing when they released. Oh, I can't think of the the set name. It's got like all thefloating stuff in it. You know what I mean that that's theworst description at he is yeah. I know what you're talking aboutthe Al Dressier Sandcart, the car yeah t the little triangle up: Yeah I'll trygo like an yeah and did you play magic? I have playedlike one game, or maybe two not that you know I didn't enjoy thegame play. I just never got into it yeah I don't know it just neverhappened. So if, if people are out there like me, how would you guys sayto you know to go about doing research on this kind of Lord that you'retalking about, because you know it seems as though Dand is going to beworking with magic, the gathering or for they've already done. I guess thesetwo projects now you know maybe they'll do something again in the future. Wherecan I learn about this kind of stuff...

...without having to go and actually playthe game? I guess I'd say like lower wise, it's kind of like D nd in that you don't really need toknow more necessarily in terms of like, likeI don't, really know who a lot of like the main players in the Dnd Amenar and I know more about the settings, and I think that MTG is a lotof the same. Like you know about the settings, and then thereare, there is a focus on the main players, but for the most part, thesettings are the big focus, and where do you learn about saidsetting, we I'm sure they'll be expanded upon in these wizards releasesfor Dand, but I would I would ogle just like thethe name of the setting and Lowerand I'm sure you'll friend get pages on pages on pages of it, because peoplelike me are obsessed with that kind of stuff. I, like the Lord more than Ilike the game itself, yeah and mind you. A lot of these settings are tied intothe planes. That's that they're in so you could literally just look up the different planes in MTG and you'llpull the lower on most everything. I think I think for for MTG players. The the interesting thing will be the adaptation of characters that youalready know within your D nd campaigns, and I think, likelargely that, that's probably going to be one of the most important things forveteran players that sort of share both hobbies. You know because, like ifyou're looking at this from a pure five perspective, right Jordan, I meanyou're going to be looking for a cool story right, just setting large doesn'treally affect how it's being told, but you know if you've been playing througha setting and you're heavily involved, and then they tell a story wrong. That's when you're going to have a bit of pickle yeah going back to I mean the setting is important to acertain extent like how people act in different settings differs right likewhen I'm creating a character. I like to know where they're from and likewhat is going on in this world, so that I can create a character that is, you know, accurate or to that world andwould have basic goals that make sense for that campaign. So well, if it's just it's just nice tohave that little extra, a mountain so yeah, it's on stricks haven, again we're going to be getting moreinformation, specifically on the actual setting itself, as we lead into theweeks of the release. This one is slated for November sixteenth, so eveneven longer to wait for this one, but we got on a release for you a this I mean to make sense. I guess you got aplay test all this before they actually release it in the book right, but we have lots of spell casting subclasses being released for this particular setting and I'm surethat there is more sub classes for other non castor characters. I mean. Perhaps the setting is veryheavily dealt in magic. I haven't actually like. I could look up strictseven. I I actually got back into magic throughMTG arena when I saw strick saven because it seemed really cool. It is, is very, very heavily made like the entire idea. Strict havenis essentially hogward. It's a giant school plan of Mages of specific colleges. They call them a universityis houses and each one of them has a different focuson what they want to home in terms of magic always wanted to play in a campaignlike that, it's a cool idea. I remember, I think critical role did the once outER. It was like Agworth Mesh with the breakfast club, and I was like a that'sa neat idea. It's like the the wizard college isjust a a cool concept. I take it yeah exactly and I like the idea of your characters developing based on thestuff that they learned in the school. You know it gives them a bit more of areason to actually you know level up. Let's say you know like instead of just okay, you've, you knowdefeated this, you know this creature or whatever, andso you've gained some xp, and then you suddenly have this bolt of inspirationthat somehow gives you an extra spell slot, and you know some other stuff. This feels like it's. It could be more like okay, you've got and done youradventure, and then you spend the next couple months studying ABOUTO. You knowsome of the stuff that you experienced...

...there and now you've learned enoughthat you know you can. You know actually have more spell lots and youcan have certain spells that are maybe related to this thing or whatever it'skind of it could be more a little bit more interesting. That way, I wouldlike to see that I'd be surprised. If that's what we end up getting with thisis a a little bit outside the box for lizards. I know, but it could be like alittle bit of a home base. Almost you know, like you at least you could startwith one. That's like you know, here's your school that you go to, and thenyou have adventures that you go out like in Harry Potter. you go out. Hedoes it his adventures and stuff like that, and then he comes back to school, the very next year kind of thing right or I guess he does his adventuresduring school time. Still but, like you know, you know what I'm saying it couldwork, maybe it'll be the same as all the other dand stuff, but I like tothink that there's a chance that there's you know that home base that we can use for reasons so yeah. No, it's a you know it's funny, though, I'm just looking over at the two things and like the the strictsaving school, I guess is a very standard like university type of emblemand crest, but yeah now that you mentioned hogward to look very similarand like even the I looked up on the MTG wiki like stricken stadium, lookstraight up like a Quita stadium, something like that. Okay, THAT'S PRETTY EXCITING YEAH! So as players who have played spolatroguys, are you ready to go to school and get into it? He? Yes, your misfit kid aw see! This is alreadystemming into a great little character. Arcs your misfit kid who's, pretendingto be a spell caster, but it is actually an artificer how that be yeah. But we have U A for this. We have thecolleges that they're looking to release and I guess for the differentschools within strict haven. We have the lower hold college dedicated to thepursuit of history by conversing, with ancient spirits and understanding thewhims of time itself. The pismares college dedicated to thevisual and Performing Arts en bolstered with the power of the elements quand ricks college AK nerds dedicatedto the study and manipulation of pater's core mathematic principles. Icould, by the way silver quilt college dedicated to themagic of words whether encouraging speeches that up with allies orpiercing wit that the drad suppose and the wither bloom college dedicatedto the Alchemy of life and death and harnessing and devastating the energiesof both no from sort of like an outsiders perspective. Here they seemlike they're, mixing a lot of things that might be separate classes withinfive itself, right, like silver cal college you're, talking about likebards and inspiration, and you know, you're sort of like upliftingleaders and what not quandrill you're talking aboutmathematic principles. This seems more to me like what how majors are normallydescribed, but, like highly I mean these are all academic. I guess butlike in this kiss, it's just like more more into that's. Why I said the nerdstuff anyways it as like? More more like mechanisms of magic, right, M and Pris Mary College, Visual andPerforming Arts again is very bardy to me: lower hold college pursue historyconversing with ancient spirits. That, to me seems a little bit like clarice alittle bit. You know Paladin e. You know these are just my perspective on these bother, interesting that you say that, because I don't think is cleric on Clark andPaladin are not one of the classes that are able to take any of these sub CIES.I think it's just it's just peer casters, you know get the acastes inhere yeah. Well, not even cleric like cleric is not one of the people who canstudy at strict saving is ods, aren't allowed in the right note there ain't,No God here! There's no exactly is. This is exactly what I a everyone here is an atheist, not that yeah not sorry about that, but that mightactually be like, like in the strict saving lower right again. If we go backto the MTG WICKI on strike Savin, I'm sure that we could find a little bitmore ill. Look. It says right there, everyone, here's, an atheist, we crazy! Now, I'm super I'm super hyped here.I'm super excited about the fact that these are like classes, that subclasses that multiple classes can take, and I think that's really reallycoolyes. Yes, that's definitely...

...something that I noticed to it's veryand and- and I think one towards that- I thinkit really works in the favor of wizards here for DB with regards to having more player autonomy with regards totheir background in Laura Right, because I'm pretty sure some of these classes here itdefinitely it specifically states how, like the background, has so how you youfall into this college is up to you entirely right, because it's you knowyou're, like guess your choice to go into the silver call college or thewitherbones right so from from a player lower standpoint, I think it's easierto create a character that might want to go into these colleges right rather than like, having to think of aback story that aligns with a sub class that you chose a right's kind of trueit kind of like sets you up for, like here's, the type of person that youmight be and then you can kind of go from there yeah that's interesting. I guess thismight be more of a develop your character through the playand sit through their back story upsetting. I guess multi classing here, maybe youcould dip into different sub classes by I almost I mean I mean I want to see. Ihate, I hate the Condicote, it's so lame, I'm just going to start tin, silver Cole classes, guys. I might I mean. Obviously we got to see where, where this module actually goes likewhat we get out of it. But I would that's a really good question. Actually,I am curious to see what multi classing looks like in a setting like this feel like you would have to choose asecondary like main class, and then you could choose another sub class still, but you couldn't be. If you were a wizard of like lower hold, you couldn'tbe a wizard of silver quill as well yeah you have to us like. You can'treally have to choose another main class. That way you could sub classagain, but I could see it as like because because I know I know, peoplethat have like requested to switch their sub class part way through acampaign and usually that's just kind of hand. Waved is like Oh yeah. This isjust like what the player felt like doing so. Therefore, it's always hasbeen right. I could see that in this is likeOh yeah, you're, switching, your major you get yeah! You got really bored withwith what you were doing, so you dropped out and now you're back inanother stream of classes that you found me were interesting. So would youlike slowly? You know trade, their abilities off.Like you know, for a few sessions they have, they still have their originalabilities and then just the new ability of the new sub class and then like afew sessions later they get rid of the next highest level, ability that theyhave and then switch it out for the next highest level of the new sub class. That they've got you know and then keep doing it. That way, that's one way ofdoing it. I do it more R, p Wise, so that it's almost like a like a transfermeeting. So then like in order to do this, you can't just say: Hey D M: Iwant to do this. You actually have to go through a whole process within thecampaign of switching out your classes, yeah yeah. That makes sense the other thing that I,that this sort of highlights is t tat importance on the setting as a whole, because, if we're talking, all theseare going to be predominantly Caris intelligence wisdom, how? How do you convince players totake to put points into Letexier, ty constitution? Well, dexterity and constitution? People are always going to choose, DEXTERITYALWAYS IMPROVES AC and constitution, improves hip points. It's reallystrength that all these people are going to have low strength in terms ofthe derivative skills m right yeah, which is, which isanother point that I think, is a good question that Carlos is as like. Howare you ever going to have strength checks if everybody has like a negativeto modifier? Someone has to play the rip must of the muscle the head Plor, the ex played warlock. That way, there is a reason to have strength, maybe ute.Actually it uses Charismata. I know they can use charisma still, but youknow you could use strength if he wanted to what would you want? I know this, this change. This does change. Imean we haven't seen this setting it and yeah. These are all highspeculation here, but if that were to be the case is would change the thebalance of encounters. I think because, on the one hand, sure you have a group, that's a little bit, maybe squish her say as a whole, though there are some abilities inthese sub classes that I think do increase healing and increase yourvitality potential, but in general I...

...think the trade off here is you're,giving up perhaps some sort of squitchinealyou're getting more magical power, which is very strong in the end right, like yeah, like in the Torney of dragons, like the spell casting, is alot of the damage towards the final bosses and monsters right. So I think,as a D M, you might have to be a little bit more careful if you have like aparty full of majors right, but then again it's like what kind of setting do youwant to run with right because, like I try to think of scenarios like this in,like the Harry Potter world, or something like that, where, like youknow, Ron and Harry crash into the willow tree, this was like a nasty DM. You know. I,like you, just crush your majus in one shot but like I don't think they reallytook any damage in that entire scene as characters. You know like like Ronbroke his wand and we had some funny moments about, like him not being ableto cast spells, but like realistically, none of them got hit by the willow treein that sand. Right, so, you know, like a lot of the big bads inHarry Potter, are more like thematically big bads, but, like feel like you know, the Basalis couldhave just straight up. Lunged at Harry, eaten him and G G. There goes. Theregoes your art like so you know D. MS be kind you're, a villain running monologues, man, I've already got. I've already gota great warlock idea for this and so ready. Oh No. I okay. Allow me to go on a bit of atangent here, because the other thing that we got we got strick haven, whichis magic crossing over into Dend, but we've also seen teazers of the D andmagic set that is coming out where D nd becomes its own magic arts, but how it that going to be like firstof all, tangent on the tangent here is that going to be like swords coast,Ebron tors go like okay, but the thing that confused me- and Iwas talking with a couple of our friends about this and I'm still superconfused when they teased it. They had a planes, Walker and a creaturethat they showed off as part of it. The plains. Walker was loath the goddesslot and the creature was Tiamat the GoddessTam at, and it struck me as very strange thatthese were like plains, walkers and creatures, whereas like if you look at the theroset like Theros, was almost like a legendary sorcery for its gods, likethey were just a force of nature in themselves, and it just struck me as very strangethat these are like killable creatures in Mtg, but right. What that also essentiallydoes is that it sets up planes walkers in the MTG verse to beon a power level akin to God's and one of the things I don't know ifstricks have in spoilers or things, but I guess strick having spoilers. I don'tknow one of the things that I foundinteresting, the college strick haven has a dean, haslike a like. A head. Professor named Professor Onyx, and ProfessorOnyx is a plains Walker, but professor onyx is also the plains. Walker Lilianain disguise, who is a very carless if rotes rememberest MTG Lord Liliana isnot a good person. Ileana is quoted quite an underhanded evil figure. It isnow heading up this academy, so I'd like to have a character. That'sessentially he's a warlock, but he doesn't really. We realize he's awarlock he's just the teacher's pet of this of this professor and she's, just likegrooming him to become this super powerful anti hero essentially, and he doesn'teven realize that would be fun and like from a from a DB mechanic background. Iwould say, like you know, maybe that's your more. You have like an Afflat backgroundright, like somehow you're able to get into every class. You you're, you havea connection to the school. You know all these challenges in door. Oh,that's cool yeah! I'm like I'm hybridizing in a little bit with likewhat the the DM, what you'd have to do as a DM to like get that littlestoryland cooking. But yes, that's cool...

...yeah, I just a, but that's like an L. It's a little! That's a little a! I found a past name that theseplanes walkers were just like essentially MTG s like stacking up upon a power level with Gods, which is, I never saw it that way. I don't know ifyou ever saw it that way when playing Mtg. I just saw them as like superpowerful figures, not like God, level entities, but you know what, though, even thougheven in those same sets of cards you have, I think, I'm having trouble, and maybemaybe I need some correction in this after, but I think there are some cardsthat are both planes, walkers and then the same character is also a card. Whether it's across sets- and like Imean that's that like that might be he that might be the highlight there rightlike it's within each plane. That you're in these creatures havedifferent importance right in different set like if the, if we're alreadytalking here in strict haven, that every goin wi the assumption thateverybody's atheist, because there are no gods- I mean, then your then your planeswalkers make sense that they would be like. You know your head Masters and, like your most, your most powerful wizard than which is you know, yeah. That does make sense water. What sub class would you makethis character from the ones that you've seen if it's a warlock, it's got to bewither, bloom or silver quill or remember what the other one is: Pris,Murray, no, no crismore is this two or for old moral e I'd, say:Weather Blue! THAT'S RIGHT UP! Lilian is area of like death, Doka he's the she's, the she's, the plans, walker of the swampdomain, stuff checks out. Are you sorry t so you're saying a character? Is the the Malfy of this? Essentially, I think yes, I don't know if I'd play them like thator if I'd play him like. I, like I'd, almost want to play him like the Nevel, where, like he's clearly an apt and has no idea what he's doing for the firstbits, but like is more powerful, but also like things just kind of work out, because she's manipulating things for him and then yeah and then and then I got ahuge glow up between movies, four and five. What an interesting story rick thatI'll be Britten, I'm excited to either play with you or or against you. I guess, depending onhow turns out so this would be your second betrayalof the party that you know yeah seriously, this guy an evilcharacters. I'm telling you there's a lot of sub classes here inthis. U A so for the sake of time on this weekend, also in general, becauseI want to dive into this a little bit further. We'll take up some of thesewe'll go we'll do a deeper dive on this UA in next week's episode, but we haveone final final release to talk about. I think it is pretty big because itkind of times into what we said last week, which is citic role. As we know, the campaign number twoended and we were sad for about a week at critical role does not disappointand they already have plenty of shows lined up to fill dis void, dominantly have the announcement of Lexandrian, unlimited and I'm sure every critter that watches or listens to the watches. Wedon't video that listens to this. PODCAST already knows what we'retalking about, but this is a new eight episodecampaign that is going to take place thirty years in the future, after themighty nine campaign finishes and just kind of just tossing up the t e the recipe we're not tossing it up,but this is sort of mixing up the critical role recipe were swappingout some old cast for this particular campaign andwe're bringing in some new faces, which is really exciting to see.Predominantly speaking, we are having a new DM lead. Thiscampaign, Bria Ingar, is going to be replacingthat mercer and going to be taking up the reins as dem of the exandistis. Forthis for this little eight episode series, which is really exciting. Now Ihaven't actually gotten the chance to.

I watch her D and I'll I'll definitely try to find some some videos and maybe somecampaigns that I can sort of familiarize myself with. So I can havea better sense of who this DM will be.But of course, you know as long as they it's it's critical role approved. Youknow these are all great story. Tellers, I'm sure she is fantastic. I trust them in their choice of handingoff the reins to somebody else and I'm very excited to see what s what shebrings to the table coming forward to. We have A. I thinkshe is from the announcement that they make she s a bit of a new face in theND scene. Amy Carrero, well, practice, crafte, character storyand from what I can tell, and some little bit of social media creepingfits within the cast very well very animated person very jolly, and I think we'll see I'm interested to see whatwhat her character creation is. I guess in her one of the first sort of biggestbigger D, ND related work, she'll be doing, and then the new face, as aswell as Robbie Damon from what I've Seen Robbie is very animated. Person Very energeticbrings a lot of good vies and a lot of just smiling tothe table, and I think I'll mish well with the casts that that will the original critical role casts her sofrom the original cast were going to haveMatt Mercer being a player for once, not at the DM, which is going to beexciting, and I think from someone who made the world, Iguess is going to it's going to be interesting, how he makes his character. But again, these are all very, very good actors, so I'm sure won't have any sort of I'msure the Meta gaming will not seep through too much and we'll also haveAshley Johnson and Leo O'Brian rejoining as returning cast members forthis campaign very exciting. Completely new group of people, for the, like Imean half of the group, is brand new mats and new players. So you know, mostof the group is, I say, been shifted and I'm excited tosee what this campaign will be about you guys. What are you guys, thoughtson this, inter I saw that this was actually Robbie's first time playing,Nett R PG. Imagine it was your first time and you just got to sit down in agame as I Matt Mercer, Oh Ye, you know what I did see. I diddo some creeping and I did see Robbie play. I don't know if it was like anofficial T. Trg perhaps, but I did see Robbie and I go show plain what seemsto be done is and dragons along with some Muppet, not sure it was like. The two of the playerswere humans and two of the other players were mopes, so I don't know, I don't know if it waslike an official, Dr Pg, but he definitely has a little bit of exposureto it. I think I that it have been a dream had carlos that's kind of an okay was not a dream. Well, I looked this up Jordan. What areyour thoughts on this and have you finished campaign too? I have notfinished campaign to well. You know I have stuff going onguys, sorry, but yeah. I am interested to see whatthis is going to be about. I was looking for emen because apparentlythey're starting in this city called Emon is like. Is that in wild mount? Isthat what's that and right, eman? Okay, sure I'm a going a guestthan at that? It's a aldor thing. You Bet it is s detailed to Rit yeah, okay, so I have the wild man like a spores guy towild mount stuff and I'm doing a campaign in wild mount. So I only really know about wild Mac,because I also didn't watch campaign one so the the Taldo stuff isn't like freshor my mind or anything like that yeah. So I'm kind of interested to seewhat that looks like, but I won't have the same experience. I feel like as theother critters who have watched campaign one and then I can see youknow what the differences are, and you know what what those hundreds of yearslooks like. I guess between. Is it hundreds of years between box, I'm notsure when Noi, I li, like it's thirty...

...years after mighty nine, but how longis mighty? Nine? After box longer than thirty, but not as long as you think, Ithink it was like fifty okay, so it's maybe been like eighty years is. Thatis that the idea, since campaigning one senses, is less than a hundred by theway I posted in the chat hat. That is, I'm not actually dreaming about this. Please go. Take a look. This is actual. I said this is an actual perceptioncheck. Yes, wow actual series, all right, something I did not know I needed today. Okay, so yeah for the the listener'sperception check is the name of this series that apparently stars muppet playing Dand, I'm so now what I'm doing for the rest ofto aways turn. Please carry off so shortto make sure that I told you I prove to you guys that I'm not actually insane yeah. I was just going to say I like, I would love to see like I guesswhat the differences are, which means I guess I have to go back and watchcampaign. One Yeah. I just said, after you finishcampaign to yes, that of course, my crazy most of the time but yeah. We don'tknow too much about the details of the campaign. I know that they've done someplay test already and it seems like the group is meshing very, very well soworrying for a like anything anything that needsmarishes quality standards for production. It will be great. That is all the news we have today forechoes of the outlands soon in next week, for more details onour north or CONA, and an update on our music inspired one shots, no yeah I'll take over here for a quickdivining, the DM I'm going to make it quick. So we can keep this semi on point here. We are on page a hundred and seventeenof the dungeon master's guide. So if you all want to flip there, youcan do so we're going to be talking about the sea. We talked a little bitabout underwater stuff last time at this time. We're just going to talkabout the sea and we'll see how far we get so characters can row a boat for eighthours per day or can row longer at the risk of exhaustion. As for the rules ofa four march in chapter, eight of the players, halfboy, basically makingconstitution saving throws at the end of our long things, a fully accruedsailing vessel can sail all day assuming its sailors, work in shifts navigation, so sea going vessels stayclose to shore when they can, because navigation is easier when landmarks arevisible. As long as a ship is within sight of land, there is no chance ofthe vessel becoming lost. Otherwise, a ship's navigator must rely on deadreckoning, tracking the direction and distance of the ship's travel or theSun and Stars so use a wilderness navigation table earlier in thischapter to determine whether a ship veers off course really interesting. I hadn't thoughtabout that. I'm currently in a campaign with Braden, and I always just kind of assumed. Oh Yeah, you just travel from point a topoint B in a straight line, but I guess that's not necessarily the case. I hadn't thought of that. Had yougreatly, I don't know: Okay Cool e. You were clearly more prepared for thiscampaign, but I guess you're the judge demasted. So I hope so I wasn't thereat it. Yes, how do sales work? Ah, so this is aboat boat ye B, a w awesome. Yes, so random encounters guys at sea, which isdifferent from random encounters underwater they've got another tablehere, so you can check for random encounters at sea as often as you wouldcheck for them on land. So you can cease chapter three for moreinformation. The random encounters at sea table presents a number of optionsand ideas, including ghost ships, bronze dragons,Mur, folk whirlpools, passing warships, pirate ships, passing merchant ships, killer, whales, floating debris, long, ships, creed by hostile, Presero,Bostil, griffins or Harpies icebergs Sahagun Boarding Party, O N PSS in thewater clinging to floating debris or...

...sea monsters such as dragon, turtles orcracking, or in the case of a more recent thing.Giant talked to push from Brayton's campaign, which is really cool, yeah, so random encounters again, I m I'm not the guy to do random stuff,I'm the guy that you know say. Oh, I like the idea of an Ice Berg, I'm goingto throw that in it's going to happen so yeah. Take these as you would. Shipreke is a little like side, blareper that. I think we would be pretty cool. Soshipwreck is a plot device that can be used sparingly to great effect, particularly if you want the characters to be washed ashore. On some monsterinvested island or in the case of an airship dropped in the middle of someexotic land, the cursive Strat, no, not curses strates right, but the cult area there aren't rules for determining whena shipwreck happens, it happens when you want or need it to happen. Even thestrongest seafarings Ip can founder in a storm run aground on rocks or reefs sinkduring a pirate attack or be dragged under water by a sea monster. A stormor hungry dragon can lay waste to an airship just as easily a shipwreck hasthe potential to change the direction of a campaign. It isn't, however, aparticularly good way to kill off characters or end a campaign. So if youand your campaign conspire to Reca ship on which the characters are traveling,it is assumed that the characters survive with the equipment they werewearing or are carrying still in their penses ion. The fate of any M P CS andcargo aboard the wrecked ship is entirely up to you. So I think that's pretty cool. It'sbasically saying don't end the campaign by just saying you all drown in thisshipwreck kind of thing. If you want I'm sure you could come upwith like rules for like randomized items that might be lost or or even like. You know how long ittakes you to get to shore like. Maybe if your players are really intoit, you could make it a really hard core campaign and there's a chance thattheir character doesn't make it, but I wouldn't yeah, I kind of agree withthem that it's probably not a great idea to end the campaign. That way so don't go for the TK yeah. I S S I,but then I guess it's a really good way to balance out certain spells, perhapsbeing used as openers all the time like bran. How do you handle ship damage inyour campaign? Can your players cast shatter and fire balls on Deca? Will Ohyeah or well that it's essentially how I do it is like the ship itself getsits own term in addition to everybody else, getting a turn in the combattracker and the ship has like a step block. So if the players want to focus fire atthe ship versus of people on the ship, they can do so, of course, assumingthat the other ship, if they have casters, can also do so and if they choose instead, if they're not castors andit's it range, then if they have weapons on the ship, they can choose touse those instead O. now, if you were to board a ship, couldsay a regime barbarian attack the ship and dosignificant damage to it or what it just essentially bound off significantis a very yeah. I know right Mut yeah it would. It would dosomething, but the best way do you're, taking an axe to wood like eventuallyI'm going to do something like I mean the action that I would pictureof our bear and do ud be like climb. The mass jump down, take an axe andjust like slide down it. You know to like I do like cut the kill is hereyou know, break the helm, that kind of thing yeahyou can do yeah. I suppose that's like that, like I would impair movement, wouldn't really bring the ship itself. The I just cut the house, no yeah, okay, let's keep moving here. Weather at seaso use the weather table earlier in this chapter when checking for theweather at sea. If weather conditions indicate both a strong wind and heavyrain, they combined to create a storm with high waves, so a crew caught in astorm loses sight of all landmarks. Unless there's a lighthouse or otherbright feature, the ability, check and ability checksmade to navigate during the storm have disadvantage in dead calme or no wind.Ships, move can't move under sail and...

...must be road. A ship sailing against astrong wind moves at half speed visibility. So a relatively calm seoffers great visibility from a crows nest. A lookout spot I'll look out canspot another ship or a coastline up to ten miles away. Assuming clear skies, overcast guys reduced that distance by half rain and fog reduce visibility, just as they do on land owning a ship. This is the cool part. Ithink at some point in your campaign. Theadventures might gain custody of a ship they might purchase or capture one orreceive one to carry out a mission. It's up to you whether the ship isavailable for purchase, and you have the power to deprive the adventures ofa ship at any time. It should have become a nuisance, the the shipwreck, side, bar crew, so a ship needs a crew of skilledparlins to function. As for the players, Hambo one skilled, paroling costs atleast two gold pieces per day. The minimum number of skilled harling'sneeded to crew a ship depends on the type of vessel, as shown in the airborne and water borne vehicles table above which I'll go over in a second. You cantrack the loyalty of individual crew members or the crew as a whole, usingthe optional loyalty rules in Chapter Four that we talked about. If at least half the crew becomesdisloyal during a voyage, the crew turns hostile and stages of mutiny. Ifthe ship is birth by disloyal crew members. Sorry, if the ship is birthed, Jist litcrew members leave the ship and never return Ye yeah. Lots of you need lots of moneyto run. A ship apparently depends on the type of ship you're running, butyeah. It's a thing. Passengers the table indicates thenumber of small and medium passing passengers. The ship can accommodateaccommodations consist of shared hammocks in tight quarters. A shipoutfitted with private accommodations can carry one fifth as many passengers.A passenger is usually expected to pay five silver pieces per day for aHammock, but prices can vary from ship to ship. A small private cabin usuallycost two gold pieces per day, which evens out the skilled Harlan thatyou've bought cargo. The table indicates the maximumtonnage honae. Each kind of ship can carrycourse damage dressoir. So a ship has an immunity to all damage unless ittakes an amount of damage equal to or greater than its damage threshold, inwhich case it takes damage as normal. Any damage that fails to meet or exceedthe damage threshold is considered superficial and doesn't reduce theship's hip points. This is like the super. I I think the damaged thresholdthing is really cool. I like that idea, and I wish I had moredamage tresholme for things like walls or you know, buildings and stuff likethat in general, because it's it's often that playersare like hey. Can I hit this wall and try and break through it, and I go wellyeah, but it's a wall so, like I don't know what the damage threshold is, if Ihad stato for it, that would be fantastic and then, finally, here ship prepare sorepairs to a Damon ship can be made while the vessel is berthed. Repairingone hip point of damage requires one day and cost twenty gold pieces formaterials and labor. Oh ships are expensive guys. Why yeah so that at the top they've got a tablethere for all sorts of different ships, the airships, the galleys, the Keelboats, the long ships, the row, boats, the sailing ships and the war ships themost expensive one is the Galley and it cost thirty thousand gold pieces. It's crazy. You can move four miles per hour. You can have acrew you have to is it, you can have a crew of eighty people or you have tohave a crew of eighty. I think it's yeah, you need. You need anty people tocrew, a galley which is a lot. That's. At least you know a hundred and sixtygold pieces per day that you're paying to make sure the ship runs. Plus youknow the thirty thousand gold piece cost of the ship originally. So let'shope that the hundred and fifty tons of cargo can pay for whatever you've got your whatever the crew is. It's got anAC of fifteen and five hundred hip...

...points in a damaged Dere sold of twenty. So unless it takes twenty damage, it's not taken any damage at all, which isit's pretty cool, pretty cool, Yeah Braden? Did you learn anything or is Ifeel like most of this is in the ghost of Salt March, which I think you'veread right. Yes and plus I've read this particular chapter before o there we gosee he did trap for his campaign. SometimesI war all right. The Sky I'm going to quicklygo over that before handing it over to Euban just so, we can kind of finish thissection, so flying characters can move from one place to another in arelatively straight line, ignorant train and monsters that can't fly andlack range tax, so flying by spell or magic items works the same as travel onfoot as described in the player's hand book. So you can only fly for a certainamount of time. A creature that serves as a flying mount must rest one hourfor every three hours. It flies and it can't fly for more than nine hours perday. Thus, characters mounted on Griffins, which have a find speed of eighty feet, can travel at eight miles per hour, covering seventy two miles over nine hours with two one hour long rest overthe course of the day. Mounts that don't tire such as flying a flyingcontract aren't subject to this limitation so like airships, that theytalk about here as adventures. Travel through the aircheck for random encounters, as you normally would ignore any result thatindicates a non flying monster unless the characters are flying close enoughto the ground to be targeted by non flying creatures. Making range attacks, characters have normal chances to spotthe creatures on the ground and can decide whether to engage them all right. That is traveling and next time we will get into thetraps traps you how to kill your players there wego, but for now braiden take her away all right. Let's do son talk of thetown. That segment will reask you this society, a question. Then we respond tothat question and you respond to that question. We Alresford to that questiontogether in this week's question, with the finishing of critical rule season to I wanted totake a minute and pay omage to that particular show. That is given a lot ofUS inspiration and take a look and see what some of our favorite moments werefrom critical rules so far camping one campaign to does not matter favorite moments that I have. I have a couple, and I thinkmost notably, these two are from campaign one for me, the do you spicing was legendary.Hilarious is just absolutely hilarious and just how that echoed throughout thecampaign at times always brought me back. I think that's a that's. That's avery classic moment of friends having fun together, just shooting the Shit for a little. While you know, I think, in the in the first campaignto one of the most epic- and I think, unexpected moments for me was in thefinal battle. When Archon took the hand of vessel just left, it was just business I'd see in the next campaign. I thinkjust because, just from, like a you know, you're having all these celebrity stars coming in and playing and aiding theparty you know, and just at the very end there ar con is like actually had something in the back ofthe mind, and no do you think Matt knew that that wasgoing to happen. The ideas got to try to do something. I don't. I think thatwas one hundred, especially like, like most of the people that come on, likethey craft their character for the critical roll session, Archon was likea free existing guy that had been through all these campaigns, so Iwouldn't a hundred percent believe that he just did that and did not consultanybody just pieces out. No, that was a pretty good moment and Ithink, like from a from Joe said, I...

...think that was a pretty good way forhim to exit the scene to to leave it for the main casts to finish off. Youknow s which is pretty cool, so you know you take your rewards and youpiece out. I think one of these are such minormoments to, but I think in camping to one of my favorite moments was when was when bauregard and Beth were having a race up a tree and that falls off andjust goes. I pull out my gun. A shoe. Barady have one bullet in this, and I'mgoing to use it to win a friendly battle. A lot of their challenges are prettygood. I think one of the biggest o ship moments waswhen Yasha got mind, controlled and turned against the party, because that's like anybody, anybody who'splayed the NP and anybody who's had a barbarian. Your party realizes how muchdamage they can take and how much damage they can dish out. That'sfucking frightening, so I know that I know that this wascoinciding with Athley schedule. So maybe it wasn't like a like a completely random thing, but Ithink it was very cool for the party that I guess, unbeknown to them, theirally got turned and they had to fight against her. What else campaign to there's a little moments forget this was early on in thecampaign, but what was the the pirate and the pokingand the main antagonist avantage Avanti Avanti CA. Avantis death was one of the think, one of the coolest moment that Isaw yeah the zone of truth, the way that Matt played off the two charactersand the mat the way that they closed off. That are, I think that was reallyreally really cool and you know avanti holding truder Ercharacter. You know yes, obviously, the the the I think ingeneral, the the set pieces that Mat used throughoutcampaign to were incredible as well, that I think that partner should, withdwarves cause, not the critical rules so much Oh ye, and there got to likeactually like advancing their the way that they showcase these giantbattles like, I think I do like. I think I do like the the set piece for the final battle for campaign, one against Peca, and I think that was verycool. I think that the many that they used for Beck now is very close. Welland the same thing I mean the many that they use for Lucian was er very cool, but I liked I, like the cracked sort of the changing set that he had. I don'tknow, they're back, show they're both verycool. I can't I can't really highlight any one of them in particular now thatI'm really thinking about it but yeah. I think those are those were some of myfavorite moments throughout. I could probably pick out more, but those arethe ones that come to mind off the top of my head. What about youJune so the moment? Actually, that got meinto watching critical role was an animated bit done from campaign, one where Grogand Scan Lynn were going into a store to buy and to buy. I don't know some sort of itemthey went into the store, bought the item and asked the guy to go and wrapthe gift because it didn't look pretty enoughfor them, and while this guy, this poor store keeper went into the back, youknow to do this: wrapping for them their bought their their animated robot. That Scanlan, I think, was in charge of. If I'm guessing correctly came in with two bodies, I think it was. You know bloody and beaten people and it just kind of like poppeddown and was, and they were both looking at each other. Like Oh shit, what do we do now, and there was just this like moment of panic of like whatare we going to do you know, let's like stuff or try to hide thebodies? Can we find anything grog rules like a two on perceptioncheck? He findsnowhere to hide them so and then he's...

...like okay, okay, we're just going toput the bodies here and then he takes out a cake and he starts pouring theyou know the the Al all over them and says you know they were drinking on thejob and it was there terrible, terrible guards that kind of thing and they're just like freaking out thewhole time and grog ends up intimidating scanlan intodoing something. I forget exactly how it goes, but it was just a moment ofpure like what is even to happening right now, so much like fun and chaosand yeah. It was just fantastic. I you know when I saw that I knew I had toget into it so that that kind of got me into it andthen my favorite moment, I think, from campaign to was just the learning that the traveler was not.You know who he was set up to be yeah, you know is instead, you know anArfa, that's just running around doing stuff pretended to be someone he's not, andthat was just a fantastic moment that I was like h, so cool such a good ideaand like Laura handled it so well. I was just like Oh man as the playeryou're like okay. What do I do? What do I do? You know my my did that I worshipisn't you know what the t so now what I thought it was. I know you don't knowthis Jordan, but Carlos. I thought it was funny that, like it not not just anarch faith, the arch faith had just choked out the brother of her lastchapter for Kicks Yeah, so are taken in stract noutre that man yeah, so that that was just a reallyfun moment and Yeah One of my favorites for sure, justlike it sets the whole thing like all of the moments that you had hadpreviously with the traveler and stuff like that, just start to be like, oh,no, a little bit more, it's pretty great! So yeah, I love that long term. You knowplan put in de into reality, always fun yeah. We, your burden, I I got to go my top moment is campaign.One. The final fight against Vega, where he's about to escape and scanloncounter spells, and let them yeah is not only is that, like a like, likea clutch play that probably secured them the fight, it cost him so much because that meant I was not able touse his wish spell essentially to save, leans character backs, and it was just a and he knew that and heknew that that was the outcome and that that was going to be the consequence. But it's either that or this guy gets away and becomes a God and destroys theworld. It was such it was just such an amazingmoment. But yes, that is my actual tears yeah.Actually we have a couple people over on our twitter thathave responded to this. Let's take a Locle, but that is we got R C robincoming in when bow and Yasha finally get together in the tower good moment. You do. You do like to seea good love story: Pay off o Sho after they went after all, they wentthrough yeah absolutely and then we got at four sweet. J Rosecoming in with three three separate favorite moments: capturing and talkingwith Essec after his betrayal after the party jester tricking a Sharne, the HAG. Yes,that's kick, of course, and then Oh yeah. It was so funny that was probably that's, probably topthree D nd moments, and he that was just so clutch and then the final fight with Lucian, which is probably the most epic. I didn't think it would be possible tolike top the data fight from season one that definitely did itno question, but that is what we got for this weekon triple advantage.
