Bonus Action - Tasha's Lightning Round

ABOUT THIS EPISODE

In today's (impromptu) bonus action, Carlos leads Braeden and Jordan on a character creation lightning round based on the new subclasses found in Tasha's Cauldron of Everything.

Hey everybody, it's Braden from triple advantage here. Unfortunately, while we were recording this week's full episode of triple advantage to bring to you, the BOT that we used to record our episodes had a bit of a meltdown and, long story short, most of our footage is completely unusable. While we figure out a workaround, of four had to record our future episodes, we present to you this salvage content from the episode that was apparently not meant to be. It is what we're presenting as a bonus action, even if it doesn't sound like our typical bonus action structure, but either way, we hope you enjoy. Members of the Society, on Today's echoes of the outlines, we bring you a lightning round for mostly Braden and Jordan. As I will moderate because I'm slightly hungover from our social drinks yesterday over some because covid goes. Really it's been a while since I've been this song over and I hope that you guys can come up with something a little bit fast than I am, because my brain is having troubles just revving up right now. So we've had the newest release Takshas Caldron of everything come out and get into the hands of the people, but not our people, because we're poor. And now be Christmas is around the corner, man, and right Christmas this around the Quarner, rapt especially anyways, with all over it, with all the released content, there's no way that we can cover this in one single episode of or one single segment of echoes of the outlines. So I wanted to get you guys thoughts on the subclasses that were released in this book and, in particular, thought I would be fun if you guys gave me a scenario where you would use a character with this subclass. It can be some sort of hypothetical...

MPC or some sort of class you might want to try or not class, but some sort of character dynamic that you might want to try out. But essentially I'll just give you the description of what the class and subclass are and I want you guys to give me that character as fast as possible, and I'll be picking Braden or Jordan. I'm not going to give you who's first, so be ready. I might at alternate, I might not. I'll keep you guys on your feet. So, to kick it off, what do we think about the artificer. The artificer brings in the armor subclass. This subclass is an artificer who modifies armor to be much more than a stab boost. The artificer can now wear heavy armor, which is also a conduit for the artificers magic and viewing it with enhanced magics, previously unavailable to any class. With two further specializations, Guardian and infiltrator, which give more niche uses for the artifice, or in any group artifice are. In future infusions, artificers will also gain access to new options for their infusions, including Arcane, Pulsian armor and self refueling ring, along other along other surprises. Cheez Braden, lightning character creation, iron man right. Alternatively, we have a character that actually is using the armor artificers sub class, the on our starkana version, albeit in one of our campaigns, one that I play in, a play, play in as a player M he likes to play her as Sammus from metroid. Ah, so that is at least one used for it. That's that's that's the vibe that I'm getting. I'm getting like Medieval Tony Stark from that. Like need what you doing before you get more ideas from I I've never actually played an Artificer, I've only seen it, so I would probably just use this as more of a military kind of guy and a...

...leader of presence, a frontliner who will lead his troops into battle. It's more of an NPC kind of person, I'd say, like a support yeah, support for sure, it's a good one. All right, and now let's go onto the barbarians, one of the most fun classes and one of the things that I think I mean someone cooking up barbarian was in the RCS. But with regards to Tasha's we have path the beast. The path of the beast is a path which describes or barriers who have spark of bes steal magic in their souls. For Barons who follow this path, or symbol druts, who wild shape, manifesting magical beast steel claws, tails or fangs to fight. Progressing in this path leads the barbarian to the power to and infect and inspires others with their bes steal spark. All right, Jordan, what comes into mind? Saber tooth from xmen on it. Yeah, honestly, that's where I go with that kind of thing. A bit more primal beasteal and not necessarily a good guy, I'd say, interesting choice. All right, Britain, what about you? I've now got a concept for a forest dwelling folk out in the woods, where they're extentially a split society, with the peaceful sages being druids in the warrior class being path of the beast, barbarians, but they're both animalistic nature or focus people. Okay, that's an interesting center. All right, exploring further, and now I guess this might...

...overlap a little bit with ideas, but the path of the wild magic, the path of the wild magic, of the path which describes by barons who have been infused with uncontrolled magics. They gain access to their very own wild magic table, with functions similarly to the wild magic sorcery table, but with your options. Progressing in this path gives up a very, a greater control over the magic they unleash. Braden, HMM, this is a tricky one, because barbarian is generally thought to be the antithesis of magic. HMM. So my first thought, I suppose, is NPC villain, but not like a villain villain, like a like a tragic circumstance villain, where it's almost like a science experiment where he's been like experimented on by wizards. Know, he has this uncontrollable magic bursting on these mad he's just des drolling things. Okay, cool. Jordan. I would go with survivor of an incident that occurred in town. So maybe there was a wizard who was messing with magic in a way that he shouldn't have been. It blew up the town, or most of it, or something like that, and he, along with maybe a couple other people, were infused with this magic and survived somehow, maybe because of his barbarian roots, or maybe the whole town was a barbarian village and one of them just decided that they wanted to try things with magic that they shouldn't have tampered with. This is an interesting one with for me, because I think for the most part we've already kind of coined that sorcerer's just kind of get magic. So what if this was a barbarian who has magical traits but never, because of their tribe, never really practice them, so they just got right with minor magical traits? Well, yeah, more is the still be fighters. Yeah, yeah, that's interesting. But moving...

...on to the Bard, we have the college of creation. The College of creation focus on creating works of art, whether that's dancing notes of light that grant boons your allies, using the raw power of creation to create non magical goods, or dancing item construct a bard can animate. A Bart of creation is constantly recreating reality to suit their purposes. and No thanos reference Holy S Jordan Europe first. All right, I was going to make a reference to particular character in the storm light archives, which is a light weaver, which is really cool. She's a fantastic artist and basically, anytime she creates a form of art, what are called creations, friend will kind of like pop up around her, which are just things that it show how well someone is doing something or they're invested in something. It just kind of POPs up. It's really cool. I love the series. But yeah, that that was what came to mind immediately when I heard College of creation. As far as WHO ID do for a character like that, I probably make a character similar to her tragic backstory and kind of uses art as an escape. Well, it would not be the ind you without a tragic backstory. Braden, I don't know, I actually don't know. I'm you fail the tests. One, I know I'm startling. One I did, this one's. This one's out there for me. This one's I'm having an actual difficult time picturing how do I haven't seen it mechanically, so I'm having a difficult time picturing how this yeah, I guess it's like I'm not really giving you guys much of the mechanical elements behind these classes, just the general flavor tax that surrounds it. So, yes, I can understand how that's difficult, but negative brownie points on your creativeness. I win it. S is definitely up one.

So we'll move on to the college of Eloquence. College of Eloquence, introduce in Mythic oddesises of theos, is dedicated to the mastery of the spoken word. This is the best subcast for Bards who wants to be the spokesperson of the Party, whether you just want a better change the deception or persuasion checks, or you want to always be understood regard of this of language barriers, the eloquent Bard is ready for all your campaign social needs. For the sake of our creativity, I'm going to remove Alexander Hamilton from lists of possible characters. You can create brain gos. Gonna say, Alexander, you're rooting all my fun, but I actually have a bard that is a he's not a music bard, he's like a Thespian. He's like an actor, and I feel like I almost want to when I get back to that campaign. Finally, I want to switch him over to college of Eloquence, because I think I have of him as Laura or valor one of the other hmm and this just this just feels very thespian. This feels like the birds finally have a valid class if you want to be something other than a musician. Yeah, personally, I would go back to again storm light archives. There's these characters or these people called the world singers, and they go around the world telling tales of the different lands that are about there, that are out there, and and they try, their goal is to have each of the different areas and countries kind of come to an understanding so that there can be like a piece in the world, and they think that knowledge of the different cultures and that kind of thing is the best way to do that. And so they create these stories and they tell these stories to the different people to kind of pass on some sort of wisdom. I think it's a really cool idea and I'd go with that. Or I've always wanted to create a singer, so this what might class might be the one for that. If I were to...

...do that, some sort of famous singer, I could see the singer adaptation perhaps a little bit better, because the other idea sounds a little too close to the college of Lorgod Sir. But perhaps I digress. With the clerics we get a couple of new domains and a couple. Well, in one domain that was brought back from Rephnica, we have the peace domain. The piece of aim is focus on peace and all forms from a channel divinity that protects you from opportunity attacks while healing everybody you come close to, to forging allies, to forginge allies together with divine bonds. The piece clerk is prepared to shut down any conflict. I'm just going to jump in here and I say that this is a great bard. If we wanted to create Jordan into our campaign, yeah, can I just play Jordan Fandco with the peace clerk? That's right, that's why you guys keep me around. That's my two seconds. Well, Britain and the other ideas the nevolent peacekeeping force, especially given the clerics or heavily affinitied with heavy armor and generally being the quote unquote tank of the Party. I can see these guys being like a like the specialized arm of a religion. Almost. Yeah, I played as the piece exactly. I played as a oath of Redemption Paladin a bit back and it seems very similar to this peace domain in terms of like tenants and like what they want to push forward. So I like the idea of my back story for that was someone who was kind of like marginalized and push down and they...

...were actually saved by someone that they thought they were being marginalized by at some point, and that's a gross understatement as far as like what was going on, but the idea was that he saw someone do something peaceful and brought about a way for him to redeem himself, I guess, in terms of his own life. So I would go with something along those lines for peace to open. And next up we have the twilight domain, which I think it just sounds really cool. From Baseline. It seems one of like it seems like one of the most different ones. The twilight cleric is a master of darkness and light, featuring spells like fairy, fire and sea. invisibility domain features include dark vision with a range of three hundred feet, advantage on initiative, which you can grant to others, and manipulating the shadows of the world to go flat, the shadows of the world to go fly, grant temporary hit points or even provide cover for your allies, who Jordan, hot RECU, reay, treing of hearts. Yeah, that's a good straight up. We go with him, right. Yeah, I it's a hard one. I don't know. I'd like a I know shadow doesn't equal evil necessarily, but I want kind of like an antihero cleric. Many good clerics. I kind of like a yeah, and Antihero cleric. I'd like to see that. What, and I mean doesn't do that for you? Everybody's following orders. Where I piss and following orders. We have the order domain. This is the one that comes back from Ravnica, and the order remain as a cleric subclass for those who like to follow instructions rather than interpret them. Much like harmancers of Ramnika, these champions of order trust that those who create the...

...laws will do so justly and we'll do so and we'll do their part to protect the status quote for everyone. Alternatively, a clerk are this domain might be invested in the rules, customs and obligations of a faith, culture or religious institution rather than the law per se. Features this class focus on improving the order clerics ability to the team, dominate and destroy when necessary. That's pretty spicy. Yeah, brighten. Five second character. Oh No, class, that's to for Jordan. Jared, go honestly with this one. It's pretty hard, like there isn't a lot to go on. I mean it kind of tells you what your character already is going to be like. As in terms of like spicing it up, you could say that this person maybe was screwed over at some point by by the chaos inflicted in their in their town, and so your hell bent on bringing order to everything. Or maybe you play like more of a like an obsessive or OCD person, I don't know, like some sort of you could play into like a disorder that way, potentially, where you just you want the world to be right and that means you follow all the rules you know. Well, it's interesting to me that you would say it's kind of like. It gives you the character already, and you guys are having so much difficulty coming up. It's like when you have an exam and the answer somewhere in the exam, but you don't you just don't trust it. So negative points for the both of you on this one. I guess. Wait what I just gave you a idea? I'm sorry, you gave me the roundabout kind of answer to an idea. What it could be? Not an idea. Sorry. For druids, we have the circle of spores, which again available, and Gild Master's guide to Ravnika, but this revisit includes minor updates of features, including the access to...

...chill touched can trip. Otherwise we're still talking about a fungus obsessed rude with with a symbiotic relationship with countless invisible sports surrounding them at all times. Jordan. Okay, story Drud would you think of? Oh well, one that has all the funary animating everything in its path. Either that or maybe someone who ate the wrong mushroom and just started producing these spores. I think I see time was kind of playoff of that. If you have no idea why this kind of stuff happens, but now that it's happening to you, you know you got super powers, all right, Britain. Either of you ever seen Dodo head through the anime? No, no, Bananas Anime, absolute Psychedelic, had trip. Would suggest watching it. Sometimes that essentially magic gone. I'm not in a lot of cases, one of the magic users. Everybody gets like their own magic ability, and one of them is this guy called and who's like the head of a Mafia family and his power is anything that his magic touches gets turned into mushrooms instantly. I would do exactly that, kind of like GIS. I was sinking. I was thinking circle of spores, Druid, misunderstood person, and it's kind of like a necromancer, but instead of dead bodies, it's bringing like clickers from the last of us into the world and those are their pets. Now these now we are running a little bit tight on time with this segments, so I'm going to start to cut it, cut these down. We're not going to go through every single subclass for each class, so I'll pick my favorite one and we'll go from there. So with the monk, we have what I mean, the cools. Continue this on from next segment, like next time. Yes, true, all right, let's do that in said, because there's a lot of content here that I want to get you, guys as head out of.

But now we've spoiled the fun. Doesn't know what's going to be coming in for next week, and so does the audience. True, stay tuned to find out more about the fighter, monk, Paladin, ranger, rogue, sorceror, warlock, wizard. Yeah, anyways, I think you overestimate my capacity for doing homework, though. So are, yeah, yes, yes, Goldfish brained. Let's move on to the next segment and forget that we just did something prior.
