On this week's episode of tripleadvantage, lightning strikes us a third time. We encounter the bulk of event, bace adventures in our divinations, and we share dreams of characters to comein our talk of the town, as always be sure to follow us on our social mediaand become a part of our society, enjoy the show hello members, Os Acudy and welcomeagain to echoes of the outlands on this particular segment. We bring back thethird and final installment of Tasha's lightning around, where we take thesubclasses offered in the newest release by wises of the coast and takethe quick, synopses and fire it off at the Guyis over here in the Roral CitySociety and get them to come up with a character concept on the spot. They getpoints for rooting the character in some back story. They get points fororiginality and they get points for adapting the features of thesesubclasses to the backstory. So that is to say no generic orphan endeavors here, because that could technically apply to every character. How are they differingfrom every other archetype per se? But will let you guys know that we will notbe covering the ranger subclass in this particular episode now, that's becausewe've actually hit some technical difficulty. Al Recording and I didn'twant to ruin the sanctity of this competition and the guys hat the guysthat are already given me. An answer on it so will be ginning with the rogue. Now welcoming in our two contestants are our two regular hosts of thispodcast brain and Jordan, guys, please say hello and how you aregoing to bring your particular DM skill into this competition. How will you winover one another welcome to Tasha's lighting round wherethe rules are made up and the points don't matter? That's right! EEFORE! I'mgoing to bring my some total of zero knowledge to this game. I'm going to approach this Vazirostrategy whatsoever and we're just going to see exactly what happens. That is a solid strategy, braidedninthing, very envous of you right now O. I would like it noted that in the uncut-or I guess the section that is cut out now, it was stated that I was ahead inthat particular round and wheher. That's true or not. It is completelyirrelevant. That's right along your part of the piple IAI. So let's kick it off with that Brazon cockiness from Jordan, you're going tobe the first one up on the hot seat, right Wer last time, you're doingrolling. That was good! Okay, that's good! It's fine! I can do it bring itlast time is not this time. So, with the rogue we bring two newarchetypes in firstlet's Siga. Look at the Phantom. The Phantom is a roguewith an intimate understanding of death and the power that can be harnessed. Atthe moment. A creature dies with this build rogue's, forge bond with variousspirits of the dead to get new preficiencies, the OSNIK attack damageto multiple creatures or even capture the essence of a dying creature in theform of sin, the form of soul, trinkets, Sol, Trink, its protect you from death, allow you to deal more damage or even question the spirit inside the Trinketfor information as the Phantom masters, their relationship with death. Theygain the ability to assume a spectal form which can fly move through otherslike a ghost and has a protection from attacks Jordan. This is really cool. This sounds like a little bit of Dark Sols, a little bit of shadows of Mordor, which is reallysweet, so I definitely try and create acharacter based on the character in that the shadows ofMordor it'd be awesome. I'd go with something along those lines where maybea spirit had saved me at some point, and so there's some sort of tragedy. Maybe family dies or something like that, butthe spirit was there, and maybe it's been connected in my family for a longtime, ancestral stuff that would be sweet, I'd, go with something alongthose lines and create my character using that spirit as like the main one. That kind of like follows me around or is in the back of my head all right. What about you, Britain? I had a player one time who devise hisbackground as being part of this organization of rogues that were soshadowy like they just couldn't be...

...caught to the point where they wereelevated as God's and the hilarious part of watching thisgo down was that he would constantly fail all of his death rolls. So I would like to resurrect that backstory in that it is this literally a descendant of one of these members. That's getting this aid and he is he's getting all these tipsfed to him so that he is actually like just fantastically skilled at stealth,so so that that's hilarious background, but with actual results, all right, so that was the so that wasthe phantom. But now we're going to be moving onto the other archetype, thesoul knife. The sole knife is a saonic assassin, using the power of the mindto fuel a range of features. At the beginning, the Sol life gains Sionicenergy dice which grant various boons like teleprathy and boost so abilitychecks. They also get a Sionic blade which functions similarly to a daggerand allows dual wielding saonic attacks as you control over the Seonic as youas your control over the syonic blade improved you gain abilities whichtrigger when you summon it like increasing your attack, role, telepording or stunning. The target of the attack masters of the craft canalso use psychic powers to turn themselves invisible right. What is your character concept again? Iwanted on record that I don't like the Sionic classes, but I do the Sionic dagger is an interesting one,and I've got this weird picture of them almost using their own head as a sheath. For that- and I know that doesn't make sense, but the idea is that it's likean thereal blade right is a site. It's a psychic bleed. It's not like aphysical, tangible blade. Is that what I'm understanding Sionic Ar Yeah? I think power, the myand power of Lik Force and whatnot so yeah. So this blade, I necessarily likea physical blade. I think it was more saying like you canuse tolepathy and telicanesis to enhance your skills is, is what I heardthere. That's dumb like that! No because I like the idea of if it's, ifit's like an actual like Sykic wheras, you blead, that would be coolting likephysical hilt and then kind of like oppress the temple type thing andextend the blade out as you pull it off at the temple, like literally usingyour mind in both the literal and metaphorical sense to create this blade. That is all I have o this Classomi'm,pretty sure. That's, not even what the classes so do with that whith you'reright right, Geora! My character is going to be a noble, born characterwhose family has passed on these sionic traits and has trained he's trained for his wholelife. With these kind of likeabilities he's Super Haughty thinks he's all that. Definitely not a very like empathetic person andhe's going to kind of like walk around like he's the greatest thing inexistence, and he will use his abilities essentiallyto just kind of like nudge things in his favor every now and then so, like a misstep here for someoneelse, you know pulling someone just a little bit closer to them, so you canget that backstab in those kind of things. Just he'll be quick, agile and very, very overconfident right. Well, I'm going to omit those acouple of those last discrivers. We goes quick and agile, apply to all robs. That's, but now to summarize the classthemselves for the rogue for the Phantom orcetype Jordan, you brought ina right away. You started trying to get this character in line with Darxsols, which isn't necessarily very original right off the bat but then again brainjumped into rogues that are two shadowy to a caut, which is a definition from somebody else's character that they've creatednot his own. Therefore he is immediately disqualified. Jordan. Youtake the Phantom arketing for the sole knife. You went with the familybackground again Jordan, which puts you in a perilous situation, however brains, the lack of understanding ofthe slmacabilities and the Sol knife kind of put him, I think, Holdin aworse location, because he kind of just described the mechanics of the class.Instead of giving me the class itself, I was I'm SOIC for that. SOWAD youinconsider an original idea, then, because, honestly, like my familyhistory of being trained and having the syonic powers pass down, is I'm justsaying that I'm just saying that for the first subclass you want withPhantom of a family, passdown ghost and then on the sold Niif yew were alsogoing with a family pass own. I'm saying, with these two characters beingcreated so close to one another, it was to two on the nose. I hope we changethis strategy going forward. Jordan and...

...you're the first going to be on thehotseat for Uyor, apparent mind, sourcer, and let's get into that rightaway. Why don't Wai Yeahgi who's got it. You know family history of well. Let meget you the deceion, unless you really Wan. No, I'm stard out withthat the aberant mind. Sourcer is a sorcerthat gains the power from psychic connection forte between themselves andsome powerful alien entity. With this build sorcerers gain acces tosylonexpels and defenses, including the ability to caspells, using only themind and protections from psychic damage and the charmed refrightenedconditions at higher levels. The sorcer can embody the presence of the iberntmind and gains special movement abilities like fight flight swimmingspeed and squeezing through impossible spaces. Paragons of this class gainaccess to an imploding, teleportation skill which damages nearby creatures asthey escape from danger all right, so my character fell down into a wellor some other type of place where he would be trapped fordays on end alone by himself, and during this time he went a little bitinsane and also made contact with some sort ofaverent creature unknown to many different, like anyone really and most people just think, he's just gone insane, but heactually does have a connection and he will have powers that kind of emanatefrom there. Okay and Raden. Now mine has a longfamily history of no on kidding, yes, yea. What I would do I've had thischaracter concept for alittle bit and it works. I haven't like had a class toPOTA to and now I've got a class to put it to which school. The concept of like almost like a likea birthday party magician like a kids magician that everybody, like he's allsmiles in fun, and you know, he's doing all this fake magic and everybody'slike Woll. What's your secret and his secret is something like super dark isnot just like a like a sliht of hand, magician he's like an actual magicianwith some terrible secret, and I lik this. I think that this fits reallywell to that, because I like the idea of them, like Oh yeah, you know I'mjust doing this, these these average tricks, but it's because there's thisalvrich being sitting in the back of my mind, feeding the information on how todo it. I like that very nice all right. Moving on to theclockwork soul, the clockber soul is a socer who gets their power from theplane of Mechanis and the abilities reflect the order and pecition inspiredby such a connection when casting a sorcer of spell, they also manifest anillusionary effect, reflective of machines, clocks or gears. At firstlevel, clockbork souls gained the ability to cancel advantage ordisadvantage gain in their presence at higher levels. They can shield theirallies and gain rage like state where all of their detentis have a minimumrole of ten masters of this art can also summon a hord of clockwordcreatures to Hea, to deal heel, damage or and spell effects Braton. What is it original, clockwork, Solsorer depends on the setting because, like if this was Eberon, this wouldjust be a sorcerer, it's steampong central, but in the in like a forgotten rolmsetting, I like the ideaof like somebody who, like wears the team puncistetic like dress, isbasically like they're from Everon, but they're, not and kind of like how wesee steampunk people today, like they're, just like people with a verystrange and particular aesthetic and nobody, except for like people from thecommunity, really get that so they're constantly dressed like they're, bothfrom the past and the future. At the same time and everybody's justconstantly staring at them like what it. What are you all right, Jordan? I would go with acharacter who grew up in a corrupted town and seeing the law kind of beingtaken out of context all the time. He has just decided that from now on anything that he does isgoing to be inperfect balance and will follow the law to the letter and thatwill kind of like fall along this. Like mechanical likeside of him, he just likes things to be in order with precision, and it must bedone according to the laws that are in place in each of the different landsthat he may go to. That would likely be the characterwoeld go with okay. So, let's summarize the sorcer round for you to now, Igotta say for being on the receiving end for the clockwork soul. You guysgave both very even responses. I think youdidn't necessarily talk about the characteriss themselves too much moreabout their traits and qualities. So...

I'm going to say that you both tie onthat one, but I will say that Jordan's Aberant Lind sourcer had a little bitmore rooting to some sort of world with hisdescription so braven. This puts you two classes behind. I stillil the rules to the IHEN.Honestly, I would give Ye the Poigewell IFS. Jordan is giving you the point, then congratulation yeah, you guys are now tied, but did Jordanunderstand that the next class were going to be discussing? Is yourfavorite Braden, oh yeahlock yeah, so like APL, O head here, let's see where we go, and since we're now tied, given Jordan'sgenerosity, Braden you're, going to be on the hard seat. First, I likedescribing the fathomless. Somehow you've come in contact with a being inthe depths of the ocean and struck a bargain. Betther, your power comes froma crackin or a discrumpted turtle. You Harness Ha power of water becoming anagent of an element as much of an agent for an entity starting at level. Oneyou get a Sim speed and can breathe under water. You also have the abilityof some antentacles from the depths the deeps to help you combit in combat, andyou control over these. Your control over these centicles grow considerably. As you level up at higher levels. Your bond with the water allows you to tellfor yourself and your friends to nearby bodies of water yeah this this like th. This isn't justa war lookat. This is my warlock, I'm I'm thethe HB lovecraft Famin, the in the group. So this is this was builtfor me. I have. I actually have a very strong concept for a warlock ofthe deeper. What's it called now, fathomless yeah. I like that. I have a very strong concept becauseI've been wanting to introduce one to my campaign, forabit, essentially the religious leader in a town that haspledged itself entirely to the services of an abylyth that is constantly sura, supplying the town with boons in exchange for their undying worship, so very, very twisted cultmentality, but it is the main religious focus in this town, so they are prettymuch the most important person in this town for being the most devout. I like it all right, allright. I think I would gowith something a little bit different. I would go with a character who is in a prison, and heand a bunch of other prisoners have been working towards escaping thisprison for a while. It's a an island prison or a beach prison somewherealong those lines, and they dug a tunnel and this tunnel that they've been working on for monthskind of like leads out to an area where water starts to kind oflike leak in or something along those lines where, eventually, they will come into contactwith some sort of beasts, they might happen upon an area that's been buriedfor a long time, maybe a temple to some sort of unknown primal being that is related to waterand the deep and my character would come into contact with this being, and I would probably have this characteractually kill off any of the other prisoners in exchange for gaining thepower of this particular being and his storiy kind of like set off from there. Okay moving on, we have the genie before you get the wrong idea. Thisisn't that kind of genie. This is a noble genie which means you're. Lookingat a ruler of vast territories on the elemental plains, not a dimestorewishgranter, it's also four bilds in one with thewarlock having to decide between Earth, air and fire and water from the mariesspells attacks and other perks granted by Eurogeni. You also ga in access tothe genies vessel, which is like an embodiment of your patron's power, youcan use it to increase your damage, protect yourself or even hide insidefor a short rest. Finally, after you gain a high enough level, you can casta modified wish spell where you beg your genie to cast a stell of six levelor lower. For you great give me Your Geni Orlock concept. Ilike the fact that, like like more than...

...other warlocks, I feel like this patron, like really encompasses theidea that, like your warlock, is your Sugar Daddy, like theres, a lot ofactual mechanical features that have you begging them for things in exchange for like somethingthat you'll do for them. So I like the idea of playing like like that, like a sugar babyessentiall like a very ales young Nigy, let me do this thing. That isessentially like I'll. Do whatever you want the to of this genie, but he's very much like you know, O oak flease. Can I can I please do this please I'll do anything, for you felt weird saying that but yeah I likethe concepts. I don't know if I'd actually play that effor, but I likethe idea of it well, your weirdness just gave us asound clip to promote for the next week's episode of Yeahno I'it's, a goodthing. You adit these yeah Jordan all right this one's fairlydifficult, I think, actually for me to come up with a decent originalbackstory. So I will just go with this: character is going to be the guardian of this particular lamp,so maybe a rereligious order was in charge of protecting and guarding thislamp from getting into the wrong hands, but he eventually gave into the callfor power for reasons potentially someone attacked and heneeded that power, or he just became super greedy and decided that it washis byright. I can niit okay, so summarizing the warlock find ourselves at odds here Britan. Youdid not run away with this, as you thought you might. With regards to the fathomless, I likeyour idea, but in in but that's for the most part you gave a current state ofwhat the character might be and Jordan you kind of just gave a back story, butnot the character itself. Perhaps so you guys you guys kind of both gave mevery descriptive elements of what the character is or aspects of theircharacter, but not necessarily something that strikes to me as Thesali. Maybe the Abalyth is moreunique than I killed, my comrades for some dark power, so w we'll get we'llgive a little edge to Braiden, but then I was we look at the genie I got to say, unfortunately, Jordan, sugar, baby andDyeah much more unique. I like it yea an your answers and I want to say tostress that if you really want to take these home, you got to be a little bit moredescriptive, be a little bit more sure of what these powers might be insteadof saying some loose for reasons unknown com to something. But thisround is over got it. You have ha chance to possibly even this out with the wizard section, yeah ins, thisone would like it say. I would like to it said that you know these. This is alightning round, and so these are the things that we're coming up with on thespot, and I would someone n come up with better things than other. Ohabsolutely, absolutely. I would normally take like weeks to come upwith a character back story that I liked and I would work through multiple differentpotentials, and so that's why I kind of go with reasons unknown, but I'll, tryand JE efective here and I'm sure that in other professional sports, if onelosing team is describing the reasons as to why they didn't practice enough, they would also have many many many things to say. butmoving on to thewizard, seeing that Britin is still in the lead, we're going to start with youwe're looking at our cane traditions for wizards now and the first one isbladsinging blade. SINGE BLADESINGERS AR WIZARD WTO have studied Elvin battle.magics a bladesinger has proficiencies in armor weapon and skills of wizards.Don't normally get access to the bladsinger can invote their BLADESIGand combat to increase their movement. Speed, increase their defenses and dealmore damage. They also have the ability to attack more often and can use cantrips as a part of their multiattack action bread. What is your character idea? So you know how guardians to the GalaxyYondu has that Arrow that he controls of the whistle? Yes, I kind of want that, with a blade, not literally like you're sitting back and letting the blade do you work, butlike literally, like blade singer.

So I like the idea of like as you, your movements are less of a less fighting and more of a dance.Almost so somebody that's been raised not to treat it as a as a weapon somuch, but as an art like a classical dance, so their movements are verygraceful, very well executed. Their movements and everything they do withthe blade is very thought trough: A dance of dead DANC indeath, yes, okay, sure, okay, so blade singing the skys, definitely going to be an Elf, and I say that with a question mark, no I'm kidding definitely go with an LFhere. I know that bladsinging in the past had to be an Elf. I don't know Iit'. Still. That way is AIS. Why they change it up. That's Ay! THAT'S WHYTHEY CAIT! I don't know. I still felt, like you know: Elves, were you K O likeit fits their? I don't know their gracefulness kind of thing so well ontop of which they, because of their long lives they are able to like learnand read up and become a better wizard. I would think than most other races ifthey really put their minds to it. So for me, it makes sense that they wouldbe able to master both weapon and spellcasting at the same time. Sothat's why I would still stick with enough if I were to create thischaracter. That being said, that means that thisis going to be an older character, who has re spent many many years, trainingin both arts, simply as a mercenary for the AlbinKingdom, and I wouldn't want to go anymore unique than that, because I think thatmight kind of take away from it to a certain extent, and I would really like to just kind ofplay. This simple guy who you know, seems simple on the outside, but onlike. If you really get to know him you'll see that he has become a masterof both, you know sword and spell so he kind of will sit back a littlebit and let people do the talking and the deciding and that kind of thing, and then he will come in and finish what they cannot all right and moving on to the last subclass for this competition, theorder obscribes wizards are creatures of ped and paper, but usually all theirattention goes into the page. When a wizard joins the order of the scribes, though they get magics focused on both quill and spellbook, using their wizardequal, they can copy, spells faster, never neat ink and can raise anymistakes with a gesture with their awakened spellbook. They can use it asa spellcasting focus change the damage type of their spells, cast richesquickly and even replace the entire spell book. If it takes damage or islost, never worry about losing your collection again. You can also summonforth the mind of your awakened Spellbook to help you in your adventurein various ways, at higher levels, you can create enhanced spose curls, whichallow you to cast them at higher levels for free, you become foficient withmaking regular sqrills to sell, and you can even enhance your bond with yourawakened spellbook so that it can help you remember things or even take damageto to protect you Grad. I was going to pass honestly, but nowI've kind of got the idea of almost like an spionash field like aspy, somebody who is so far advanced intheir study of not advanced, but they belong to this. This order of scribes, essentially like kind of an underground order of wizards and spellcasters and they'v,become very adept. They're. Constantly. Writing this information, storing inaway with more accuracy, more talent than anyother wizards, so they're able to pickly analyze. Click quickly deducequickly get information on any given spell right. It away, stored away, bring it back to whoever they happen to be working for at the time. It justseems like that kind of improved skills. Skill set would bevery beneficial for magical spionage, but I don't know if that's even a thing, but I'd like that to be a thing cool, I would go sorry, you ere E to say,Ocall your name go: Okay, yeah! I would go with and a thief. My character would go undercover as an apprentice to aparticular wizard, maybe one who's kind of hermited himself away. He wouldspend years kind of like working under this...

...y wizard, who kind of kept him at armslength, as he's done with all bis apprentices for so long. But eventuallythis this my apparent my character. The apprentice would work up the courage toenter into the wizards kind of workshop area, where he's not supposed to be,and he will steal the spellbook and quill that is magically enchanted to beto act in this particular way. As it's kind of said, and at first it was just going to be a job,but when he leaves he realizes that this spellbook actually has you know somesort of sentience and it be quickly becomes enamored to with this Spellbook, and he decides that he's going to go off on his own and he's going to run for his life from the people whohired him and also from hopefully stay away from the wizard to whom hebetrayed wraps it up for tashes lightning around, and let's do one final recap on the wizard round, with blade singing Bredn, you brought in an interesting adaptation with Yondew, but actually asinger with a bliedetself dancing around, and I can picture a verycinematic use of this character. Jordan, unfortunately, for this particularsubclass, I feel like you bottle yourself into the expected answer. Youkept it and kept it trying to be original, and although I appreciate the the creative boundaries that you limityourself to, that was not the right thing to do. For this particularcompetition. I gave you guys a three points, so I will have to give braidenthe blade singing. However, things slightly changed a little bit with hegides to the order of the scribe. Brain described espionage in the use of thesespellcastures being used as rogue like entities which is cool, but for themajority of the description braid, you kind of just repeated. The benefits ofyeah order was scribed already w atwas going with them, which isn'tnecessarily new. However, with Jordan, you gave me a character here, so Ithink that with this particular class, you guys are at a time. However,Braan did have a small but definitelyd in the past, in the competition leadingup to this. So I think that he takes the cake and unfortunately, we have notime to rebuttal these finings, because it is time for your segment Ye. Okay, I'm just going to cry here for a littlebit but okay and then we'll move on to yes, I'mgonna keep going here. We are moving on to devany the DMG, guys we're openingup the dungeon master's Guod and reading through it for the first timefor reals. So we are on page. Seventy seven werepartway through the event based adventures. Moving onto number four, which isidentify, important NPCs, okay, so during I'm just going to pointout that the last competition that we did has been phenomenal to run andhighly relevant rithregards to this particular section, yeah, okay, sure so identify important NBC, so manyEvent Base Adventures require a well detailed cast of mpcs. Some of theseNPCs fall neatly into the categories of allies and patrons, but most are likelyto be characters or creatures whose attitudes towards the adventures remainundecided until the adventures interact with them. So then you go to see chapter four formore information on creating NPC, so we will definitely get to that at somepoint. It's going to be exciting. Okay, the elements of the adventureyou've determined so far should provide a clear idea of what supportingcharacters you need to create, as well as how much detail you need to generatefor each one. NPC is unlikely to become involved in combat, don't need a fullcombat scacistics, for example, just as characters heavily involved innegotiation should have ideals, bonds and flaws. If it's helpful role on theadventure, allies or adventure patrons table which is located in the locationsbased adventure section earlier, so there are going to be a lot of nbcsthat your characters will talk to and will interact with. Often as itsays, they will not have a swing one way oranother towards the adventures until they have done so. The important NBC is that that you needto come up with. Are they describe them as normally allies or patrons thevillains were talked about earlier as well? So that's an another importantNBC that you need to come up with yeah. I don't know that, like most ofthe time, allies and patrons for event based adventures are going to be important tothe extent that they give you the quest and then they're gone kind of thing. Atleast that's what I found. What about...

...you guys? Can you think of any NBCS that stickaround a bit more than that man? I disagree because most of my campaigns, for the most part have been and pcs that stick around with the with the players and help themstart of being used. As their own guiyt of sorts, they'reout and that' prettymuch, what the to Amanilation expects you to do: anyways Righ, so Iyeah, yeah, fair enough I'nt, I'm not I'm not saying thatcreating NPCs is not an important aspect of reating, an adventure, butI'm a big Fan. I know quite a few DMS that they prepare this wayway waypreemptively by just having a huge list of generic nd pcs for different rulesand then just like. Oh you like, because there's no guarantee thatsomebody's going to visit an NPC or not hat. You could beall this time intocreating an entire yeah Houn and the party ignores all of it. That's whyit's saying to identify those important ones right that they're probably goingto run into I'm a the key ones, obviously or Tey, but for everythingelse for kind of flushing out the story on a secondary level. I like the ideaof just having this giant list and then, if they need it, it's just like. Ohtoday, you're facing NPC number four, eighty seven from the list right exactly, and hopefully you rememberthat the next time you go back to that same place, because your players will oknow o yeah, obviously like rated down as they do. Yesh Yeah Key faxs. All Right, I'm going to keepit moving here, because we are running short on time, anticipate the villainsreactions so as the adventures pursue their goals and foil the villains plans. How does the villain respond? Does it lash out in violence or send direwarnings? Does it look for simple solutions to its problems or createmore complicated schemes to rout around the interference? Look over thevillains actions that you outlined in step, to which we talked about lasttime for each event arising from these actions. Think about how theadventurers are likely to react if they can prevent an actetion or hamper itsuccess. WHAT EFFECT HAVE ON THE VILLAINS OVERALL PLANT? What can thevillain do to compensate one way to tract the villain's reactions as byusing a floa chart? This might grow out of the timeline that describes the ilnsplans outlining the villain. It gets back on track after theadventures toward its plans or the flo chart could separate from the timelineshowing various actions and adventures might take in the villains response tothese actions, so, basically you're just trying to guess what the playersare going to do and then try and come up with a reasonableresponse from your villains. I usually have a couple of different potentialideas that my players might do and then a couple of different responses fromeach of the different from from the villain. With these event, based adventures, youreally got to think ahead and think about how each of these differentpeople are interacting together. There are often going to be situations thatyour players come up with that you did not anticipate, but you can still justkind of choose, even the like the closest looking reactions that you'vewritten down for your villains or come up with a brand dew one in reaction to that have some fun withit. I really like doing this kind of stuff. It's one of my favorite parts just being able to anticipate theplayers and then figure out what to do to kind of matchthem or or get around whatever it is that they're doing is a lot of fun tome. Yes and as important as this is based on this description here. I nowhave the amazing image of my head: AFD like them getting to the villain andthen like it hays to create a flow chart for this villain, but like thisvillain, actually having like a full white board and flow chart, Wa pe dupidSheu Stot like no, like you ruin my a look here. I was supposed to be takingover the bank at two o'clock and othat just disrupted everything from thatpoint on like Ow, dare you breath myself that struck, but exactly I built those in for me and me only yeah, that's great! I totally want todo that now. Have someone actually build own their own self destruction? That would be fantastic, cool, yeah, okay, so detail the keylocation. So, since locations aren't the focus of this adventure, they canbe simpler and smaller than a dungeon complents, complex or an expanseivewilderness. They might be specific locations in a city or even individual rooms or locationswhere combat is likely to break out or significant exploration is needed, suchas a throne room, a guild headquarters, a vampire's, crumbling manner or onKnights Chapter House, so you're probably going to tell your charactersthat something is or your players that something important is happening bypulling out. You know the map of you...

...know this room or something like that, which is, I guess, a bit of it.Downside to these advent based ones, because you're not focused upon thelocation itself, and so it's not all perfectly like mapped out, but I do still prefer these. I think, because it's well, I think it's a little bit easierpersonally to come up with these event based ones. Then it is to you know, fully flesh outa location and also I like the story that comes along with those kind ofthings I mean admintally. I find it less fun. I, like flushing out oflocation but it'sthere's a difference like it's onething to say like I were currently working on an adventure that takesplace in the city of water. Deep. Do I flesh out the entire city of water?Deep, absolutely, no, a ridiculous. So No, it's like four or five locations, maybe overthe course, this three session adventure that we're writing and rightalong the way like you know, you can do anything you want in between, but it'smostly going to be like walking to or from one of these three locations, three or four locations, all of which have them Yep, okay m a little bit of both, to be honest, like I don't mind: fushing Ou, th entire city, but, like I guess like it's to me, that means something completelydifferent than other dems. Right like to me, a complete city is like okay, Ihave the NP have like a blacksmithing MPC. I have a Black Smith location Ohave a shop or I shop right, like a big city to me, is just account of how manythings are expected right, yeah for sure and for these kind of event basedthings they basically say you know you can choose to have these kind of things, but you're likely not going to like map it out or even like you basically gookay, you're at the blacksmith. Now. What would you like to buy? He hasthese things he you know they might describe the room a little bit, butit's not going to be important. It might even change next session. Younever know because it's not the important part of this adventure. Theywill just basically say it is a blacksmith or you know, whereas a thron room is alittle bit more important and needs to say the same, because maybe they havehidden floors or they have. You know important elementsin there that you need to be aware of, for particular combats and that kind ofthing, okay, step. Seven here guys choose anintroduction and a crimax. The adventure introduction table in thelocation base adventure section offers fun possibilities for hooking thecharacters into the events of your adventure, including dreams, hauntings, and a simple plea for help. Dreams are always fun. The adventure climax table in that samesection includes adventure endings that work just as well for event baseadventures. For example, the adventure introduction table helps you decidethat an ally, the adventurers care about needs theirhelp. Perhaps the MPC is a night who believes that a vampire is trying tokill him or a friend or a relative is hoping to find the nights murderer. This MBC brings the Vampire's crimes to the characters attention. Looking overthe adventure climax table, you might decide to have adventures bait thevampire with a chest of jewels stolen from its layer. As an added twist, youdecide. The Vampire's true goals is to receive retrieve a necklace among thosejewels. The necklaceis set with nine gems and those gems. The vampire canopen a gate with these gems. The VAMPAR can open a gate to the nine hells.Should the Vampire succeed, the adventurers will have more morepressing threat to deal with as powerful as a powerful devil stepsthrough the gate and honor some ancient pack it made with a vampire, that'sreally cool, that's so cool! I would you thought ofit. The next Oexagaphi real sat society yeah, but something along those lines. You definitely want to try and introduce your your event using nbcs that you'vecreated and then kind of like tie things together as much as possible.Using the story that you've created here and throwing in those twists arealways always fun. You know it's not. Everything is, as itseems. It's is a pretty pretty good explanation of how things normallyhappen, yeah for sure all right plan your encounter. So this is goingto be the bulk of your work here so after you've created the overall storyof the adventure, it's time to plan out the encounters on which the events ofthe adventure will hang. So in an advent based adventure, the encountersoccur when the villains agenda...

...intersects with the path of thecharacters. You can't always anticipate exactly when or where that will happen, but you can't create a list of possible encounters that the adventurers mightexperience. This can take the form of generaldistrit descriptions of the villains forces, details of its lieutenants andminions, as well as encounters tied to the key locations of the adventure. Sothen it tells you to see creating encounters later in this chapter forguidance, oncrafting individual encounters, so you're going to spend alot of time trying to come up with different encounters that theadventurers can come across that they may or may not just completely skipover, which is a high high probability. I recently had a group just completelyskip past half of the dungeon that was planned out so yeah theri. There's,there's a likelihood that that kind of thing that can happen and will happen, and you should be expecting that kind of thing to happen. But you also needto plan for the event that they come across every single encounter thatyou've planned out, which might make the adventure more difficult. But Icould be more exciting. Who knows one of my one of my favorite moments incritical role is a scene where they're essentially they're runningthrough a town on their way to somewhere and they get stopped byguards and there's A. I can't remember the exact situation but theres guardsand there's a giant worm involved and t fights about to break out, butTravis is character. Ford managest to go, no, no see we're working with youin like flashes and item that they had in the past and then with a higherpersuasion rule. The guards are pretty much like okay go go on your way andthey run off, and one of my favorite moments is just see. Matt like pick upthis paper fold it in half and just be going well wo need that encounter feossing it off to the side yeah. It definitely does happen and again this this. I just find this hoarious at this inthe book, because it's like Oh yeah, you've done all the work al right nowyou just got Ta Wrak it yeah. That's all that's off easy PCO guys, but yeah will definitely get to therest of the stuff. It goes over a bit more indept into different particularevent base adventures, but we will get into that next time. As I hand, thereins over here to Braden sounds good, sounds good. This episode of tripleadventage, brought to you by Dur Aur new music out now go check that out I'mrunning out of time so that adverse pretty short. So right now we're goingto move on to top of the town the sexual, where we ask you the society, aquestion that we discussed the answers right here in this segment, and thisweek's question is what is a character concept that you've never played, butyou really want to Bu something that you've created an NPC, a PC, probably aPC, that you've been sitting on for a while that you're like man. I love thisidea. I'd love to play it, but you just haven't got around to it. MMI THINK CARLOS GETS to go first, since he sat through all of our CHARACTERIZDEA ow. We get to hear someof theoall right. Let's a DM, I'm sure that we all come up withideas on the fly all the time, but a Charet concept that I've wantedto try. I've actally just wanted in general to be able to play a wizard, especially now that I understand the game a little bit more and the spellsdon't frighten me and that's something I haven't actually been able to do withregrets like spellcasters too much. I I itially played a sorcer in one campaign, but then quickly switched so for me, I'd like to stay in the spellcasts arrange for at least a little bit. With regards to constant, I haven'tgtried, I really like the idea of the warwizards and how they can be in the front lines yeah and specifically withsome sort of Everon backdrop as well, because I really really enjoy thatsetting yeah. Everyone is really cool ar really cool Gordan. What do youthink of so? I would. I think I really want totry out a viking. Raider is kind of like the basic idea here it it came from when I was watchingVikings, obviously- and I just really loved that like feelto like people who sit in one place and they don't, but then they go out and they raade forwhatever they need right. So this guy is going to be very okay with whateverkind of things that needs to be done in order to take over or take what hewants and he's not going to stop for anything, it's hard to put that kind ofthing into a campaign specifically because it's a little bitmore on the evil side of things and a...

...little bit more selfish. So it's hardto make that adventure base unless you come up with some sort of backstorythat changes him somehow so, but then I wouldn't be playing the Viking Raider. So it's like. I really want to play this Viking Raider, but I need aparticular settings, so I would really love to do a like one shot: Adventureas a Viking Raider with everyone else, as also viking, Raider kind of thing that'd be interesting. Yeah remind me to talk to you, afterthis recording I've Rad a idea for that: okay, cool, I'm gonna go there's a bookthat I've been using mostly in the campaign that Carlos plays in withme, the tyrany of dragons campaign, but thatI'd like to introduce to my other campaign if we ever stop being evil murder Hobos. But it's a book that you can get on DMskills is called Hammons, harvesters handbook and the idea is that he hastaken every single preach her in the monstermanual andthen he has subsequent volumes for Volos and fror morning. kindens andhe's put a a harvest list for them. So if youdecide to like hack up this creature after you kill it heare's what you canget, you have to make a check, as is specific kind of check that you have tomake per creature. And if you rule the DC, said at this to get this kind ofitem. And then, if you roll higher than there's the next DC to get some moreitems and basically the more precise you are the better you do at likedismembering this thing and then there's also like sale points for allof these pieces. There's items that you can make with them: itsreally really cool and I'. Based on that, I want to play a character thatis essentially his father was kind of like a Steve, Irwin naturalist type, and he wants to be he's like a very young guy, and he wants to be just likehis father, so he's out in the woods and he's basically like he's less about doing anything for anything outside of knowledge. Is Sake, he's basically justout there, so that he can observe things and then he's along with theparty, because they'll occasionally kill things, and that gives him anopportunity to just chop hem up and see what makes them tick and make morenotes for his field. Research and I've been sitting on that character. That was that was where I was going to go. If we were permanently paralyzed byAMADUSA. I wasn't. I wasn't quite Sureha's goingno happen in chilt. Thatwas my. That was my backup character concept. First, we died in there, but let's take a look at what the society had to say. So,looking first, it or INSTAGRAM IA lot of people took this less interms of like character, concepts that they develop themselves and just kindof like overarching our types that they like toplay. So Dr Matt at Uoqelt responded with any evil aligned character. HeyI'm your Di lit me up. You want to join an campaign. I'Ma minutes. I don't havea choice. I mean to be honest. Playing a villainwithin a group would be fun too and Braiden O now that it would be so muchfun. It was fucs ICH conrath responded with sorlock in fie,he likes warlocks, but he doesn't play castors enough to commit to them. Ihighly encourage you to commit to this and I'm not yes. I am just saying that, because I'm a huge word lif hin at til the Dayan, what coy warlocks youdon't need to know too many spells it's true yeah. You can really only do twospells per day, any way so or per short rest rather so, and at as well I'starte there, I'm not at the same sage of ca as Carlos, I'm absolutely stillfrightened by the spells an fibe so warlocks good. For me, I, like it count. Tyle Deong responded with a creature ofsome sort that was true, polymorphed and loves the fact that they now haveopposable thumbs arobaby. My favorite thattink Wul have won the compesitionon Tos Li, Oh yeah. No. I love this idea of just like this you'reconstantly walking around with this guy and you keep looking back and you justlike keep Slipi waggling is son. Is Like Guy You? Okay,Oh yeah! No! U Back here! AHIS DE! Are you waggingyour butt that is awsome MSO good? Looking ofplease let me play it in the campaign. Where he's doing this Orsur or sure. Looking over at our discord, we get acouple answers, hext good, to see you again, hext had the idea of an enteringmiddle aged human rogue, who was more of a duelist H, adventure lsh explorerthan a four volute thief. I Hu'd be...

...from a noble background, providing hima life of luxury for a while, which allowed him to work in the creation oftools and weaponry and intellectual pursuits, but I becomes aware of a darkfamily secret that the source of his family's wealth and prestige is a stillactive connection to a slaving network. Ther cuts ties with all the family butmaintains and develops connections that allow him to act against his family'sdarker pursuits. I like this idea of like at first first of all, like a non dark, edgy rogue doesn't happen to Em thatd I'm guilty yeah to, but well it's so easy to just you knowplay into like okay. Well, this guy steals and murders people well how it'shard to make that seem good, but he's done a great jrop fore it there withthat yeah. I, like. I really like this concept and it's really obvious thathe's put a lot a lot of work into this ofteer for your own sake, hex. I hope you getto play this. I know you'R yeah, I know you're from or area so your like hit usout. I will make sure you play this in a campaign. You put way too muchthought into this to go to waste. Second and last. One here is from degupor man David, a character. I'd like to play, maybefor a one shot, is a claracter healer that trats his patients like astereotypical mechanic, would treat a car, so she horning the line. Well, there'syour problem every time they found a cand in the other player for the lastFon. I read this for the first time earlierthis week and I was like yeah yeah. The world needs this. He needs liaccent Ye Siye Yeah, oh noyeah! You know you looks like a little scratch with them. A Yep, there'spoison in that that's going to cost the extra boy. There's your problemyea!Well, there's your problem right there. You got no speen, probably a on thebattlefield. What are you doing your arms in the tree? I'm gonna have to bring in some boys. That's GOINTA cost Yot, like I'm, want to tell you about getting trolls, ripping your arm off Steve not covered by the onet. If it was like threeinches to the left, it would have been easy fixd, but now the whole arm'scompletely of yeah.
