On today's episode of Triple Advantage,Carlos leads us on another lightning round of character creation tocelebrate Tasha's caldron of everything. Jordan locks US through how to createevent based of ventures an we hear your thoughts on the best characters youdidn't create on Thi week's talk of the town as always, keep a locked on oursocial media pages to stay up to date on our latest releases, enjoy the show, welcome back everybody to thecontinuation of Tasha's lightning around park to last week. We startedthis just going over the subclasses that were available and Tasha's caldronof everything and getting braiden and Jordan here to quickly think of somesort of NPC or character that they firstsee using any of these cossesnguys. Hello, welcome to the show again so good to be back Carlos thines forhaving us just like yeah round to of this of Thi segment is double jeopardy, soyour creative points will count double for this second half I still Ho yeah. That is in fact, through to MoAzo excelent, I'm ready, but for all you astro lovers out therefor those of you Zodiac lovers out there we bring you the circle of stars. The major theme of this subclass is starlight and by the way ser I shouldhave stayed we're going to pick up w. We left off with the Druid sub plazashere, just picking up with the circle of Stars, so the dird completes ArStarmap, which becomes a magical to the use. SUPERTAL EMENS CAST, spells andeven embody certain constellations in the night sky, while in the starry formthe constollation appears on the body of the DUID and changes how theyparticipate in combat cast, spells and even maintained concentration guys. I'm gonna Take Braden Hare on myseers, okay, I'm thinking I always found thisweirdest and Ruid subclass Thas always struck me as more of a wizard thing, just as a just conceptually. Justbecause, like wizard s supposed to be the scholars versus truit's, I get thatI get the nature, respect of startedgazing and whatnot, but drew italways seems like people that are like actually part of it and astronomy guild.Mapping out stars would be more scholarly than more. Naturally, but Idigress, I would like a high enet full research, dedicatedindividual. That does take that more scholarly leading that is ethey're aDRUID, but they're definitely more of a a city druwit. I guess I don't know ifthat's really a thing, but but less of like this. This Arctypo, like, Oh, Iwander the forests doing all these things and more of like no, like, Iknow nature but like now. I know it from the safety of my tower where Iwatch the stars interesting, so I've. Actually, I assume we'removing on of met, but I've actually played as this classbefore and it is awesome. I love it and for my character I created a simpleand cheery little dwarf, who basically just use the stars or played on theomen side of things a lot more, and so he just sought guidance from anysources outside of himself, so he would throw bones. He would. Youknow, read the stars and stuff like that, like Ye, oh well, this star cameout first today, so you know what that must mean that I need to go in thisdirection or something along those lines. Very simple. You know oriented that way where it'sjust like. Let's just follow these directions that are given to me via thestars, and I was I was the DM for that game. It was literal astrology yeahgreat. I mean I think, that's were theattraction of this sub CLS Con, which are sure wetn he nice little culture inside you know the Royal City M Hans. You know so castramatically reimagines. Whatwhat it means to be a DRUID. Yo'llprodits can expire wildshipechargers to someone a wildfire spirit who has the stepbluck and acts muchlike the updated ranger pets over time. The DRUDS mastery over fire expandsimproving their bond, it the wildfire...

...spirit and the ability to heal ordeal, damage with the powers of death and primal flames, Jortn Youre, yeah gey. This isdefinitely like a regrowth is where I would go with this, so you have to bring things down to itsbase before you can rebuild something, hopefully better. We would be all about destroying corruption, and I would probably have my characterfocused on taking out things like undead. Specifically, it seems like that. That's a little bitof a cleriky thing, but I just based on what I'm hearing from that class likeit's. It's very much oriented towards regrowth and undead are something that are kind of, I guess an affront to nature itself. So I wouldgo that rat with my character. I, like you yeah. I like I likeJordan's playin there, but I'm going to go with when I first saw the wellfirer. It was one of the first ones that made me look at he, the new UA classes andgo. Oh. It almost looks like they're trying to combine a couple classes now so to cutowt a multiclassing, and this one struck me as a big bridgebetween the RUID and the BARBARIA. So what I would like to do is a druid that has experienced some kindof devasiting losshas lost everything and has fully given into the rage andthat rage manifests itself as a blazing wildfire. A the nature itself isactually viserally responding to the rage in this individual and causing itsrace to take shape and manifest cool. I like that can ma my answer just kidding see. I was thinking what this subclassare a little bit more of like Miasaki, where howl and Calsifer kindof relationship- I don't know if you guys have seen the the yeah ASL now a little bit odiffeet little bit ofa different take on this fire spirit in a sense, but I think it works all right so moving on to fighters now-and I think this is kind of cool, because one of these subplasses we'vetalked about before- and we talked about the lack of side warriors so si warriors are theepitem of psychic combatants cawred by a pool ofsonic energy dive. The SIwarrior has various seronic powers they can use to alter the battlefield, theygain access to barriers, telicaneses attacks and even flight through themastery of their mental energies. Braiden you're on the hot seat give mea character. This is the this. Is the warrior rightM I was. I was, I think, like the onepercente that is really not huge on the the Siomic ou a when it first release.I don't do a good thing. I didn't ask for your opinion. I askd for characterexactly what you asked for that's this entire show, but I don't yeah. I don't have a this. Is One of the few that I don'thave like a fully formed idea, locked and ready to go into a campaign becauseI don't like it. I haven't given that lot follow. That's the point of thishotsea. It's te O Yeah! I go. I go, I guess, but I've been I've been I'vebeen igin like Jordan, most yeah yea go for IM. All right, super easy, barelyinconvenience here, Jedi all right. This is this is like aclear kind of like thing leading up towards a type of jetdite Sionictelepactic powers are going to allow you to do things. I assume like pushpeople around or potentially do some sort of minetricks, and that kind of thing and your warrior abilities will just kind of putyou in that position where you'll be able to be a type of Jeta and it couldbe pretty really I don't know Itoud be pretty cool. I think I agree. I think every time the I seesaonics being used, my my brand default back to my starcraft days, so I'd makemaybe some sort of protoss kind of character, it's hard to say without the specificabilities that you might gain or again we're just looking at this from areally high level overview of what these subclasses are and justabstracting from there, but maybe that's where we could go enshields and flying yeah, but yeah. I think I think Jeti isdefinitely the the easy Tok et Yoon to Okar exactlybut says brandidn give you an answer. That's totally a point for you, Oh yeah,...

...all right! Moving on from side warrior,we have a little bit of an Overlak Yer, which I found really interesting. Imean we have the ROUMT, the RUNIHT augments, their weapon, armor and trinkets, with powerful rums to imbew them with uniquepowers. The best part is that rudit can use their rooms to grand protections totheir allies to as yheur master increases. The runite can forceopponents to reroll attacks and even grow in stature permanently to reflectthe influence of their rouns now Jordan. So it sounds a lot like an artificer kind of I guess, with just the almost like. Your equipment is thestuff that's doing the improving. So I go to like a type of enemy that that has to do with a a special weaponor something that is actually the part of you that is growing as opposed toyou becoming more skilled. It's like this weapon is becoming more powerful and I try and play along about thatline as long as possible or as long as it made sense, and then, if the moment arose, I'd look for somesort of way for me to almost like lose the weapon for a short period of time,or something like that just to like have this character kind of like pushto his limits and see what happens all right sosimilar to Brin. I asked for a character, and you gave me thedescription of a shell of a character so Brit. Can you steal this point? I hope so, but I'm also think Yiu alongthe same way length this Jordan. I want a character that has a that uses therunite less of I'm. Somebody that is really good at rooms, SOM inscribingthem and more of somebody that, like I've, inherited this set of armor andthis blade and they have these rooms and they make me powerful, but it'salmost sentien, so sometimes I'll, wake up a IE I level up and then go to sleepand wake up again and the runs have eveloped and the room love switchingaround and I'm now suddenly more powerful. But I really don't understandso yeah. I I this dein the work yeah. I played this pretty low inc. I wouldplay this as like. There's clearly something happening, that's giving meall these powers, but I have no idea what the hell it is. So I'm just Goinnakeep using the EI that well up in my face. Domwer all right. I think, to make thes statement a little bit tomake this segment a little bit more streamline I'm going to a couple morerules halfway through US playing this game. I want you guys to give me acharacter named and no is less dreamlines. Sorry, a name in what else? Well, maybenot just the Carlos character name is the last thing that I come up with whetI'm creating a character. Oh you're in trouble, then Tam for all of the zero sum points forme looks like halfway twistereas throwing join under the bus. I'm pulling out my sheet with all thenames that I have: okay, ready, suggust, just just to clarify a little bit sowe'll use the next well use the x subplas as an example. So we're talkingabout monks and the way of mercy. This monastic tradition gives mones uniqueshealing features and colluding new proficiencies healing attacks and newways to combine dealing damage and healing allies in the same attack, action higher level, monks who follow the way of mercy, even master, theability to resurrect the dead so with the way of mercy, I'm thinkingof some accolites some fighter, perhaps aboxer named Johannis, kick joandhis abilities started manifestingwhen he realized that he couldn't win any fight, as his opponents would standup and almost feel reinvigerated, Wel God. What's the word, I'm lookingfor here, ra or in Bigeradian vigor hated to fight further, as his attacksdealt healing energies to him, or something like that. Yeah give methe start of a character with Thos Pasces that wasn't the best one, I'mhoping that you guys can give me a little bit more, but no still staying with monks. Let's trythis with the way of the Astro Self. A this path use the body as little as alittle more than a representation of self. They know their true powersinside and in their form, is of their astro being at first, the Mo can onlysummon their astral arms, but as the increase and mastery they becomeproficient in summoning their full atural self, giving them a bonus attack, improve skills and Hande senses and...

...much more. Ultimately, it's the ghostlyappearance that will mark adherent o the way of the Ashal Self, since theymanifest a ghostly body over their own body. Spook alert, brain thes, spoopy hm name is Stella. Gotto have something todo with the astrol side of it. The MTHIS was tricky because it's soeasy to default. Back to just like somebody who locks the ASTROSEASO, I don't know one day when she was young. She diedhad an outer body experience and once she was resurrected, she neverreally came back from that out of body experience, O Thats s now able to justdessociate her consciousness entirely and walk outside for Om Body. All Right, Jordan, I'm gonto use entrope as a name littleon. The nose it' kind of it has to do a little bitwith the randomness of the universe, and I guess just the energy I guess, of theUniversito, and so I am going to say that she went through some sort of a portalat some point and something along those lines, kind oflike infused her with a semblance of the astrol plane, and I'm just going to say that that's kindof like where her power started manifesting cool. I'm going to givethis point to Britain and we're going to move on Tho salence, so foror Palatins, we're bringing inthe oath of glory introducint, Theros Paladins, who take the oath glory, areprepared for their destiny as a famous savior hero or even legend. These areknights, who can who can tell you their five year plan for becoming worldrenowned and their new features reflect those goals. Two and new channeldivinity options. Allow you to be an exceptional athlete or grant mathonnumbers of temporary hippoints yourself and your companions as you loveel luped, your speed increases and you have an ora which increases the speed of yourallies. Eventually, you gaine the ability to turn efensive movements intoattack and Bulsto the defensive, an ally. At the same time, ultimately, youbecame a legend and can perform feats that regular morals, only dream ofincluding turning a tacks into attack, an a fact miss into a hip, a saving ferinto a success if it fails and gain advantage on some skill, chucks, Jordan,Europe first Al Right, I am going to name my character off meal, which meanslike strength of God and I'm going to play hem off as like a Samson type character where he was born blessed with certain abilities and things likethat, and he has to follow certain codes in order to maintain thoseabilities almost like, like pregame superstitions kind of thing, almostlike, where, if you do these certain things, you're always going to win typestuff, and so I'd love to play my character. That way follow these codes, you win or you getpowers very cool, very cool Britin. His nameis Costantine and especially because the theros release was where this firstcame up. I want to really lean into the Greek origin of heroes. Kind of arttype, so very very humble beginnings- was justan exceptional, exceptional athlete who, at some point, is told that he'sbeen chosen by God and he kind of by the gods and doesn't really like buyinto it too much. But then it's kind of thrust into glory so level. One you'llsee him being like exceptional, exceptionally talented, especiallyathletically, but not like devout or anything and then by level.Twenty he'll have come to accept his destiny and who realizes that he has ahero of the relmspiper, but will he be able to overcome thegreatest feat of all, which is real player, scheduling, no level twenty Yeh next wo? Have the oththe watcherswatchers are Paladans wo ar a concent alert against the dangers of extraplainer threats. New Channel Divinity Auctions, AL the watcher to vanishextra plainer creatures or improve the defenses of an allyes. Mind laterfeatures improve initiative for you and hour allies and retaliate againstmental attacks. Ultimately, you gain extra senses, advantage for attacksagainst extra plan creatures and the ability to banish creatures when youhit them with an attack, Brai you're on the hot seat. First, I dig this subclass a lot.

His name is stark. He is the last remnant of a actual organization of both of the WatcerPalidins that were completely destroyed. What an avurent being actually didbreak through onto this side, so he's the last one he's setting about triedto solo defend the world from these threats will Altheuh whele seeking theone that actually did break through and Trid to end it. It's very cool, that's very! On thenose a I like it, Jordan, I am going to say her name is Mara and she is actually blind and or uses some sort of amechanical ey. I'm not really sure I would. I would probably like t woulddepend on whether there's features that would allow a blind person to slightlysee. If there's not, then I go with like her eyes were gauged out, and sheuses these mechanical eyes to see or magical magically, enchanted, Mechanica, ize and yet she's still like a watcher. You know someone who watches out forthese sort of abarent creatures and she would have to live on some sort ofa wall or something like that near or or a town that is known for havingthese kind of creatures kind of appear more often sa that Raden takes the Palat in rent.Just move O suerising the rounds here, because keeping trect of Plu saying what when, but you introduce it's Amosca before a guard from the city. DEMOSCO was in thebattlefields constantly and now that she is retired, she stares out thewindows of her family home, watching her city kind of like those elderly.Ladies From Eastern Europe or Latin America, take your choice. They existeverywhere, protecting the neighborhood from unusual wanderers in this casefrom extra plainer hourses. I don't know the setting here where this townis, you know in constant threat, but whenever I think of a watcher, I alwaysthink of old. Ladies watching out of their balcony, so that would actuallybe awesome if, like you're living in the town, where it's like- oh yeah, crazy old. Ladies always just like neing about these threats, meitarseosextra planerr, her constantly the only thing keeping you safe he's like se,protecting everboywe know she jus Ha. Nothing to do. This is handling forChris ihappens in FA. Come on Yeah Riten, just checking in here. How arewe on time for this segment? ITHISS A good question? That's thisprobably not a bad place to rap it. Okay, well looks Ik, be able to havetashas lightning around part three, which is incredible because I'm reallyenjoying this, and I think that partthrough will be the best of all ofthem that we have a proper formout of what to expect. Orgus is answers. As next week we will hash out somebrandnew characters live right here. Will actally not live foryou audience sorry, society momgress on the spot and we'll be talking aboutrangers, rogues, sorcers, warlocks and wizards, but for now I think it's time that wego back and become better DMS. So Jorgan, could you please take thisthrough the next section of the DNG. All right sounds like a plan, so everyone we are going through thedungeon master's guide. We are on page seventy seven and we're talking aboutevent based adventures, creating it event based adventures, so at'Seiclarification, thats age, seventy five! No, no, so that we talked about eventbased adventures, but I believe we made it to the part of mysteries, which isstill an advent based, yes insure, but you'll. Remember that that entiresegment got white. That is correct because Craig, that's right. Okay, myapologies, everyone! We are Ono page, seventy, five, great, okay, so event based event, adventures, let'ssee so these event based adventures are incomparison to the location based adventures that we talked about lasttime, so locations focus on creating thelocation first and the event stuff is going to I'm going to explain that here...

...all right, so the focus here is on whatthe characters and villains would do and what happens as a result of that, the question of where, where those things happen, is of secondaryimportance, building an event base. Adventure is more work than building alocation based one, but the process can be simpified by following thesestraightforward steps that they talk about here so step. One start with avillain, so putting care into creating your villainwill pay off later since villains play such a pivotal role in advancing thestory, use the adventure villains table found in the previous section so withthe location stuff to get started and use the information in chapter four, which will get to eventually to help flesh out that villain. For example, your villain might be an undead creature seeking to avenge a pastimprisonment or injury. An interesting aspect of an undead villain is that thepast injury might have occurred centuries ago, inspiring revengeagainst the descendants of those that harmed it. So you can imagine a vampirethat's imprisoned by the members of a religious order of Knights, who nowseeks revenge against the current members of that order, which is apretty cool villain. I think yeah I still like better de Yeah, butthis I B thatthink. If it sounds like weve talked about this before, becausewe have ye that don't know we did this entireepisode last week and then our recording that in this lovely time ofpandemic, just absolutely collapse on itself yeah. So everything wascorrupted. We decided to just rerecord everything yeah we kept the lightninground, so that'sthat was awesome, but I thinkafter that was Carbo but yeah. I can't remember if I did mention thislast time, but I would like to point out that it says startwith a villain, hmm in in an event based edventure, I feel like doesn'thave to be a villain in the traditional sense. I feel like your villain couldbe just any large scale obstacle S. yo mean like intrigue stufffor mystery stuff. That comes O. No, I mean like plague. Oh yeah, yeaher ure, that's not necessarily villainous in nature, is just a forceof nature yeah, but it's also like if it was a wildfire or something thatwould probably fall into location taste, but I feel like pom halls more intoevent, based maybe depending on how the plague spreads right like because ifthis plague spreads within a location, then your location is of the mostimportant part right. That's fine, but presumably the villains, doingsomething withon a location to so no, not necessarily right like because a villain is able to go out tomultiple different locations and take from different areas and or show up inmultiple different places and do different tasks right. So that's why this part, too isdetermine the villain's actions right, because now this action is, it dependson the type of villain. I guess right. If it's a one and done type thing, thenyeah it's only in one location for sure, but if it's a larger scale thing thanlikely, they will have followers at least in multiple locations, or willshow up in multiple different areas. Ind It your and it'll be more of a longterm thing right if that makes sense, yeah yeah. That makes sense to me, okay, yeah, so step to determine thevillain's actions. So once you have a villain is time to determine what stepsthat villain takes to achieve its goals, create a timeline showing what thevillain does and when assuming no interference from the adventurersbuilding. On the previous example, you might decide that youare vampirevillain murders, several nights by slipping past, lock, doors in gaseousform. The vampire is able to make these desks look natural at first, but itsoon becomes clear that a depraved killer is behind these murders. If youneed additional inspiration, consider a few different options for how thevillain's actions can unfold over the course of the adventure. So they giveyou six different types of event based villain actions. So there's big events, there's crime, sprees growing corruption, one and done serial crimes and step bystep so big event. The villains plans come to fruitionduring a festival, an astrological event, a holy or unholy right. I royalwedding, the birth of a child or some other similar fixed time. The villain's activities up to thatpoint are geared toward preparation for this event. So these are the stereotypical likeokay on the eclipse. You know the fire nation is going to attack kind ofththat. That's that's the feel I get...

...from this kind of thing, which is whichcan be really cool. I' almost want to use that, like in a later like campaignwhere your characters are a bit higher level. Maybe I don't know I I'm still areally big fan of this neular one just because it it kind of, even if you don't have likea set calendar like I do. Your campaign, like I use a very rigid calic der, because I kind of backed myself into a corner with a lot of mechanics that Iwas using for my for my homebroew world. But if you don't have like a rigidadherente of times a little bit more fluid, and it's just not like I'mtracking day today today day today, what's going on, then you can Kino yeah. This kind of getsyou a little bit. 'L It'll help put that urgency of time into your yeahwithout actually having to have a rigid structure. That's true you can. It canbe like. Oh It's going to happen on the solstice. That's only three days fromnow, just on o no ter, when Thi oll system is now three days now and you'vegot three days. That's right. Ye is done yeah. I like this. I like this forvillains. I also like this for players. I have a player that has a he has like a special event, h specialthing that Yo can do with a book that he has every every full moon, so he'sconstantly like waiting for the full moons, so that HEU can do this coolhiing, and probably this I on that Av con. Yet VISITA FIM Thappeing, no we're not there, yet kids Yep, but it's cool. I like that. You know it is interesting like if so with. These big events make sure it's like one. Big Event is what I'm hearing, because like full noons can be big events. It's just that! You don't wantit to be like something that is reoccurring like in Bradon's campaign, because then it will kind of put you in this place where you, okay, will atfull moons fullmoons only happen every x number of days or months or weeks orwhatever it is in your world. I guess you could make it up or youcould have full moons. You know more frequently, but every moon's, a fullman yeah. That's right! Okay, let's move on, though, to thenext type, which is the crime free. So this is when a villain commits an actthat becomes bolder and more heinous over time, so a killer might start bytargeting the destitute in the city. Slums before moving up to a massacre inthe market, place increasing the hordor and the body count each time. So thisis your stereotypical serial killer kind of, I think, or Hobo party yeah, exactly for murder, hop OPAR ONE NPC yeah. What's a town exactly we're already the bad guys guys it is a slippery slope. Let me too yeahit's very hard to get back on that other path too. Yes, all right! Yeah! I, like I, like crime spree well, no cerialkiller would be more of serial crimes. Yeah I was. I was looking at that too.I was like well yeah. Maybe I spoke too soon. I do like crimes free though Ifeel like Cranstrey, is more like a gang yeah like looting things, destroyingproperty, that kind of yeah exactly what up m a gang that starts out withjust like grabbing purses offfol. Ladies on the street, you know whichthen becomes a larger, more nefarious organization, potentially Ou coul sell, selfpon and games until it turns out that that Old Lady is can just wastetime has come yeah all rightahere, but youguys ve Ouseen the movie priest. No, not yet. No! It's, like all my timeis. Come tender rekindle my old war yourself and go fight. This evil sword as high as the villains, power andinfluence grow, affecting more victims across larger areas. This might takethe form of armies, conquering New Territories and evil cult, recruitingnew members or or a spreading plague, as you were saying braiden. So I waswrong. Pretender to the throne might attemptto secure the support of the kingdom...

...nobility in the days or weeks, leadingup to a coup or a Gild bleader could corrupt the members of a town, councilor bribe officers of the watch yeah. So I apologize Braten. I was wrong about the spreading plage.Apparently, that is an event as opposed to a location based thing. I wouldaccept your apology but thet at the same time, O not really because, like Iwas talking about like just strictly plague, this is this seems more like manmade plague. Yes, IIN is literallycreating plake, which actually hey sneak creak for something we're workingon for the Rorald State Ion Society but yeah. I do like I've done. The I've done, thecorruption side of things. I've done the clearly something in this town iswrong and the cops are turning AF blindee and this person has a way morepower than they should. So. What are you going to do about it yeah, and thatwas a lot of fun up intal the Parto B ary became yeah exactly up until thatpoint. It was going very, very well, and even now it's going very well but yeah. It's I like the. I, like thecorruption aspect, is a lot of FUC to run absolutely and it's kind of cooljust to have that, like that mob bas tape villain, it's just a lot of fun. I think to runor be ha. Yes. Actually I've done that a lot have'N, I maybe it should trystsomething else. It has been your your defining mark, I think, on theworld so far, just ecause amounts of CRMOP, mouses, yeah, massaround amountsof corruption and mopboses. It's great yeah, all right, so next step or next thingthat a villain might do is a one and done so. This is where a buillaincommits a single crime and then tries to avoid the consequences. Instead ofan ongoing plan to commit more crimes, the villain school is to Lilo or fleethe scene. So this is like heist. Stuff is what I'm thinking you know Rober Bank, this one time guysand then we can go and buy ourselves our own island kind of thing. You know pull off thatbig crime and then run, or you know, murder the royals and then run hope it's enough to like change thingsin the world. I guess maybe is what you're doing or you're just doing itfor you know: Assassin Yeah! I like this. I like this concept as one of thoselike if you can think of every heist movie ever we just like. We just needto do this one big school and then were out exactly yeah. That's that's what Ipicture this as, and I think, until the next movie yeah until and Yo Ow,theeighteen, APL, thatkind, ofeleven, yeah, that's right! I think, last time, when we did thisthe first time you mentioned that this would actually be really fun to run asa reversal, oh yeah, for sure in the player's perspective, where they're theones that have to pull off the heist. Yes- and I think that I do think thatwould be even more fun than being on that. As somebody who has run a bank heist mystery yeah, I think thatit almost would be more fun to you're right because, like when the playersare kind of just chasing down this villain, it's it is like interestingthere's like a little bit of mystery, maybe and clues that you can follow inthat kind of thing, but it would be even more fun to like kind of pull offthis okay, we're going to do this kind of thing or like a prison break. Youknow like we got to start this riot and then we got to do this thing in orderto get out of here without being seen and that kind of stuff it just adds alittle bit of like urgency and like Oh, no, like I'm a little bit scared thatmy character is going to get caught kind of thing. I like it all right. I will move on here again,so the next type of villain actions that you could consider our serialcrimes. So this is where the villain commits crimes, one after the other, but these acts are repetitive in nature, rather than escalating to greaterheights of depravity, so the trick to catching such a villain lies indetermining the pattern. That's underlining their crimes. Those serialkillers are a common example of this type of villain. Your villain might bea serial archanist favoring, a certain type of building or a magical sicknessthat affects spell casters, who cast a specific spell or a thief that targetsa certain kind of merchant or a dopple Ganger kidnapping and impersonating onenoble after another, really cool ideas. Here. Basically,it's saying choose a particular type of thing that this villain wants to get rid of or destroy or take in some way from someone else, andif, as long as that, villain sticks to that type, you can kind of like play itoff that way, and hopefully the players...

...will catch on okay. We need to protectthese people or these types of buildings, or you know we can set atrap using this kind of Bait, so it can be really fun that way for the players.I think if they can, if they can figure that pattern out, wre on a DND sessionbut kind of model and laughter, a criminal minds, episode yeah, exactlyThatwoud Besh for be sick. That was the first thing that came tomind. Although any time I hear serial killer, I think criminal mines, it'sjust it's always there. It's yeah that Sho, so the two ousans Wat ar you te R starting to dateourselves. Yes, but I would I've got I I've got a I've, got a cool concept for a one shot. I think that it's more of amystery style where ethey're finding all these people that are dead and exanguinated desenglinated was the term no blood. Is that what you're trying tosay? Yeah? When I don't know that's using you know bigfancy terms as opposed to just their blood is drained. They got Onlood, yes, essentially that so they're. Obviously, the parties brought into look into whatever vampire is draining these oftheir blood, but as the investigate they find out that it's not a vampireit's just like supersicco, ms just nuts, and is training everybody of theirblood, because that's how he do right blood testing guys. It's got to be done absolutely okay, so the let's keepgoing here, because I think I'm starting to run out of time. So stepbystep is the next villain actions. So this is in pursuit of its gooal. Thevillain carries out a specific set of actions in a particular sequence, awizard might steel the items needed to create a flactory and become a litch ora culistmit kidnap, the priests of seven good aligned Gods as a sacrifice, kingdom hearts. Alternatively, the villain could be following a trail tofind the object of its revenge, killing one victim after another, while movingever closer to the real targe real target. So I think this is the one thatI most commonly used for my villains. I like them having some sort of a longterm goal that they need to perform certain actions in order to a masspower or make their way out of whatever shackles they're in currently or, I guess, just progress towards acertain ultimate goal. I just think it's really cool to thinkthat way, and I like doing that, so that is the type of villain that Igenerally speaking make, but I should probably try and branch outkind of like Braden this I like this, but I don't like this inthe adventures category, because this isn't this ISN'n adventure. This is acampaign for sure exactly what a campaign is. It's a huge, long, fenthing where you're following the villain, usually one step behind asthey do steps yeah said. So I guess I like hit up at the end. I guess like:What's the difference between an adventure and a campaign, it woulddepend on how long it takes to complete said goal right. If they've got you know only threesteps to completing their master plan. It's technically still a stepby stepthing. You know they need to get to this thing and then they need to go andget that thing, and then they need to do this ritual here and that's theirstep by step villain actions and it leads up to some sort of anultimate goal. But I understand what you're saying Ido tend to make them more long term stuff for sure where it is like more ofa campaign type thing: it's going to take you from levels one through to tenor one three to five or whatever. It is kind of thing, yeah, exactly yeah, all right. What do you think sho I keepgoing here? We are. That is a lot of time. We've been here for like twentyminutes, are we at a NATA stopping point of this, so this is moving on toPartonnhe ran yeah. It's we had an incredibly unnatural andforestop. That's right with this. Can we do that? This would be a lot. You know what I might do, I'm going toquickly do the the party's goals, I think, and then we'll call it therecool cool all right. So this is part three of creating your event base.Adventure is to determine the party's goals, so you can use the event basegoalls table to set the party's goals. A goal can also suggest ways in whichthe adventures become caught up in the...

...villains plans and what exactly theymust do to foil these plants. Okay, so they give you like twenty differentoptions here that can kind of inspire you, so the party's goals might be toprotect an object, negotiate peace between enemy nations that are orfuting families, smuggle weapons to rebel forces win atournament, those kind of things. So you want to make sure that yourevent based adventure has some sort of party goalas well as villain goal almost and then hopefully, the two kind of intersectorcollide. Somehow, so, if it's winning a tournament, maybe your villain has somesort of steps in place in order to stop that from happening or the serialcrimes or sorry. The Crime Spring might happenwhere you know someone decides to go and kill the people at this event, and so you want to have those twothings kind of colliding. So it says, for example, you roll a tenon the table indicating that the party's goals is to secure aid from aruler of council. You decide to connect that to the leadership of the ordertargeted by your vampire villain. So maybe the orders leaders have a chestof jewels stolen from the vampire centuries ago, and the characters canuse that chest as a bait to trap the villain. So it's important to just kindof make sure that your party has something to do that intersects with your villain okayso. That is where I think we'llcall it for today we'll continue on with our event based adventures nexttime, but for now I'm going to hand it off to Braton. You Bet so before we move on to ournext segment. This episode of triple of Vanage is sponsored by our newestreleased the path of destruction, barbarian, Hey, kids, tash is notenough for you. You want more subclasses. You ever want o level abuilding path of destruction. Barbaria, it's notall youneed. It's got here an unstoffordable Jogernot tank that justrolls over everything and lives for nothing. But distruction. Jordan, wroteit. We helped edit, it tons of fun available now pay what you can on DMSkilledan. You know the drill check out ofr other stuff when you're over there GE. What's that you guys ever playapage no, but I know it was a big ish thing: there was a rampagemovie. Wasn't there, there was oh yeah yeah, it's like about giant monsters, kindofcoming in and destroying towns. Isn't it yeah yeah? It could be. If you levelto twenty and patan destruction, that's right. Do it that' a tat it is now. This is how Tom for talk of the town, the segment where we ask you the society, a question that we talkd aboutthose answers on this segment of the podcast in this week's question is: What is your favorite character thatanother player at your table has designed? So this can be either somebody that another person in yourparty has assigned or an NPC, that the DM has thrown at you that you reallyliked discuss yeah? Okay, so I really really really loved toto two things. Actually that I know our good friend match. Basically, did the voices for and created so the first one was most recently we played aone chot with him, where a particular weapon was sentient, the weapon of warning, and so thischaracter or this the character who owned it didn't exactly know that it wassentient. I don't think- and it was just kind of great because the firsttime that we walked into a room and it just started talking- it was like GimbuWatch out. It was fantastic. I loved the voice forit. It was just great and the character just started freaking out like what isgoing gon here it was fantastic. It AAS hilariously over the top o the voice onthis thing, yeah yeah, it was just so good, so good, I loved it and the othervoice that he does that I really loved was one of themajor villains in our most recent campaign, where this guy was kind of like a banecharacter where he took like this, and it was just kind of great toexperience that Bane type feel against this largemechanical type villain. It was just such a well played character. I lovedit he hurts to for those Oh yeah lnie characters, while at the table, ifyou get a solocove-...

...yes, yes, just some just some tips, you might look a little funny wit. Abig red sell, look up, it's all right again, it' AFU! Exactly! What's your? What's your answer for Lis, I actually gotta give a big Shouto toour good friend Matt, because every character at he makes he's o good time, curning baxster and then Aur, seeing the characters whenever we play, whichis always welcome and fun to partake in any session with him that I think thetwo characters that I've been most mostly exposed to are yonder from the rise of Tmat campaign and another character that he made play a very classic Shire Haffling, with goodintentions playing in a you know this dangerousworld, and actually, in that other campaign, I have another. Anotherplayer created a a firbal character, called Rubra ofAlderwood, who just takes things slowly. Time passes as needed. Awesome and interacting with thischaracter was a little difficult because you didn't really know as a DM when she would stop. I thought I startd something completely different, that was tor crise. That must be a toonline anway. That's that's a coupe oi es. You can't even like gate like in our inour in our covid world. Where were not at a physical table.Necessarily you can't like gauge. The response, at least usually also be like. Are you about to say something like you're kind of Hangi on the rest?ofthtime like it just sounds like you're sitting there in silences likeyeah yeah, it's waiting for Le Otlyeah did the DC.Should we reconnect yeah anyone else experiencing technicaldifficulties here? What yeah it's like, I'm getting like flash fromZSEUTOPIA is that great tjis, Loth, yeah, yeah, yeah, definitely painful, but awesome. I like the concept yeah. That was not maybe the best. Probablyonly do that for like a one shot. I don't know if I could pull it off for awhole like campaign. I feel, like I'm the kind of person who might give up onthat part or like say it's emotion of growth. Like Jordan, you know one of myplayers in my homebrew plays a Kanku and yeah. The actual mimic repart ofthe Cancou, I think, he's gone to quite out the window because she is veryfrustrated with her limited vocabulary: Yeah it was like really cool and shereally liked it at the beginning. But just after a while she just is like. Ineed to be able to talk. Normally, it's yeah, nobody, nobody can like they'remaking plans and she can't jump into the plans. Even though she's got goodideas because she doesn't have the words to describe exactly wants to say.I remember. I can't remember what she was trying to describe at one point. She was ont just grab like a tiger or something and the only large creaturewhord she had was elephant trying to get people's attention o justgept pointin bet like elephants and every peco what theris non but yeah. But my I think my favorite. I feel bad foralso not shouting out bat now, but that's that's, been shouted out enoughyeah, despite the fact that he does have some great great characters Icould mention, but I really like a character in our Tom of aniilationgame, currently going by the name of Leone. He has not always gone by thename of Filione. He was previously when we first met him. Alffherte, the giantLucador Barbarian, Galiath m always had all this pride was wasconvinced. He could beat anybody in a fight and then he got he got. He got destroyed in aone on one combat with this professional cladiator and he wentthrough a weird redemption arc phase where he just ditched the lucadormasshes went back to his birth name of Sabin, and then we were in the jungleand a bunch of US got petrified and...

...there was a time skip for those of usthat were and when we came out of it he was greak in Leopar print, with a newmass, an Collin himself fom, the one, and he just like he plays up the thewrestling ankle. Very great I've seen him jump off of a cliff and attempt topin a flying, reptile yeah off the side of a cliff that didn't end well for him,but I appreciate the commitment to the fit yeah. It was pretty great but yeah. I like the I like that this, this constant shuffling of personas that he's got. I think he might stick with Leone. Ithink that's the direction he wants to head, but I part of me SSI, on with hischaracters to yeah yeah. That's true, they're, always like Howwe to you footthat that was not the original name yeah. It's like a best. It's likewatching critical role except the DM's not in on it. Actually, that's lake recurring trenwith a lot of our players. Yeah Wi, probably address that it som point, but let's take a look at what the what the society had to say bit of a bit ofa slow week. Now that we're getting into end of the year. I think a lot ofpeople are maybe a little bit busy. We have seen a little bit of a downtakenonline interaction which is totally cool, but the one that we do have that I want tomention is, I want to say, is parats mcgii Onea one on instagram and theyresponded that a bodyguard to their character, whohated their character. was there other player character? So this care, thisperson was playing a character who had a bodyguard and this bodyguard, despised the character. I think Carlos this was in your campaign correct. Itwas in fact the tale of Leandro Calip and the bodyguard etheric. The HumanAndre Herlet is an Aladurin Elf, who lived a very posh life in the Faywild, and I guess one day they found a human inin their theric, was actually tyler's character and ferreck grew up and was almostadopted into the family, but as as a guard as an assistant to Leandrel. Now that leander is out in the material plane seekingadventure and the renownd to enter back into hishigher ranks. Tthe Faye wild is a bit of a vasory on you, know: Familyaccomplishments and personal drive and Etcta Ferrik. Realizes that you know. Maybehe doesn't have to do everything. Leandrel says I mean we're not with hisfamily anymore and he's a big boy you can handle yourself right. So the dynamic is pretty interestingbetween those two characters: Yeah. That would be awesome. I'd love to seethat that does sound like a very interestingdynamic, but I think that we are running out oftime.
