On this week's episode of TripleAdvantage, Carlos curate some curious red at threads Jordan eats us into theITER plans and join the conversation in this week's talk of the town as wediscuss our favorite magic items, as always make sure you're following us onour social pages, to keep up with the conversation and our newest releasesiUy, no huge releases this week Um. So the the echoes have been a littlequiet, um with big fat juicy content for this pigs episode. But I've broughtto you my little curation of Um little things. I've seen on read it Olthings. I've seen posted h throughout the Internet. That H, I found funnythis week and at seemed O h've been getting some conversations going online. So the first one that I see here is uh. I mean I'm Goingna shure this with youguys, I'm sorry for your listeners, but essentually. Let's talk about Constitution and whyyou should always have hot constitution in game. Do you guys think that thishas been like a limiting factor like? I know that this Mam is kindof likeglorifying it a little bit but um in Games. Do you guys often put pointsinto constitution, even though you might be playing some sort of likewasary character or whatnot? Just for the combat benefits is constitutionreally this powerful, so to t to kind of explain the men orListesjus, so we're not talkn about something. They can't see M it's it's alittle web comic that's been created. I I saw this as well over the course ofthe past week and it's essentially somebody being mean to the constitution, statureof a cerrification of the Constitution, staff you're, my Dubstat and then allof a sudden being in all these troubles. They can't they can't handle poison. They can't concentrate 'cause, they keep getting knocked down H. I I don't. Personally, I get the appeal. This is this this. This comic is spot on basically saying that like yet, even even in the in theCastro classes and whatnot constitution should be, it shouldn't be a dumpstet because itis essentially your vitality and how well you handle hits and how well yourole with its, which is. I think why the wizard is a glass cannon. Issuch a memen of itself because yeah, the spellcasters tent a dumbconstitution, which is an interesting one to dump, but I don't think it sh. No, I don't thinkit should ever be dumped. I don't usually make it a priority. I wouldn'tsay especially if I'm ACASTRA class, but to make it your lowest score seems not smart. I would if, if I was, if Iwas a wizard or a sorcerer, I would probably pick strength or maybe evendexterity as a lower static constitution, just to get that extrabump in health. So I agree with you for most well yea forthe most part there um I have like, with most of my casters, Iusually put at least Um Twell, I I'm usually at a twelve orfourteen for a constitution. If I'm a spellcaster so plus one plus to youmodifier, but I did with my most recent bard character, I decided I was goingto try dumping constitution, so I currently am sitting at an h, which isa negative one. modifier in constitution, which means my healthdoesn't go up as much as other people's. You know. So now, I'm sitting at...

...for HP per level instead of like five,is the base for a DH I go up for, though so it' not ideal and you're right. Like anytime, I have to make a concentration check O. I am so scared, my goodnesslike a negative one. Just is it's not not ideal for those kind ofthings, and I mostly did this just 'cause. I wanted to try it out and seewhat happens and I wanted my character to kind of feel like he's a guy whogoes and messes with people and like place tricks on them, and I definitelytries to stir up trouble with people that are much stronger than him, butthen gets away from them or uses his wits to kind of get out of thesituation or let other people deal with the situation by enticing them into it.Somehow Um. So if he's getting hit he's notdoing he's he's not you know doing the job very well. He's he's got ta get outof that. Those kind of situations right he's got to run away and he has a bunchof spells that kind of help him with doing that. So you can kind of play around theconstitution, but it's definitely much more difficult, Um, so yeah I mean if Iwere, to dump stats as a normally as as one of my casters I take top inwhatever you need for spellcasting and then dexterity. His always got to behigh for me because it constitutes your defensive capability and then Iconstitution is probably your next one and then I throw in probably one of theother mental stats and I dump m the last mental stat and strength, usuallythat that's that's like basic spellcaster right there um it's notvery often that you see a any type of smellcaster with a strength. That's Um, Hig Um. I do want to try that sometime just seehow it goes, but I'd have to like play around withthe spells and the abilities to make it worthwhile. For me, you know what Imean I do have a M. I do have a whizzard inone of my campaigns that just bought some goutlets of ogre strength, andslooking. It sounds like he's, possibly leaning towards multiclassing into amarshal class, and I don't think his constitution isaltogether fantastic, either off the top of my head, not having his sheetopen in front of me, but I I'm interested to see how that goes.'cause yeah, I multiclassing into a marshal class. When you don't have ahigh constitution, is going to be very interesting. Whan it comes to Malycombat, I don't know. But what do you thinkcarless? What's your? What's your hearttake on constitution, you could always juce with magic rightso to a certain extent. F. You don't now JS, haste yourself and H, Yolo Um, I've definitely seen constitution. Usually most of my part is: Do peopledon't have a constitution of eight when they start? I think the only personthat has done that was a a friend of mine, H, Cam, when I actually you werethere. Bon e played on the Alan Campaign. Yes came in with a bar that had AHP, so Iwas e o Doo a level one though we were infact so yeahbut athe tm, you always kind of feeling would have been atseven HB. Then, oh, yes, 'Sright, yeah, yea that withme yeah you get maximum HP, it's DA, eightmit as well. So so t I don't know like. I aid te kindof feel like okay, I lovea Wa, at least like e o Pay e, the shit out ofSomeodyo. With that, I think, maybe, if...

...you're making a dump set with acharacter, that's a bit of higher level. Maybe you have a: Maybe you have abetter time with constitution just because I largely don't think that thestats make they do make a huge difference. You know mechanically, butyou know like one or two points isn't going to ruin a gaming experience. Ifyou have a half decent campaign going right so um I don't know, I think, justlike a level Wai just so so tedious having low constitution charactersbecause you're like Oh goblins ore, deadly um traps will kill. Okay, you know a D eht is anything from likeseverely wounded to death. Sentenceuh, that's WHA thought ot ther guardssegonstitution, but I thought the mame was KINDOF cute Um. This was uh made by twitchdv. SlashJakie boy arts seems like is an art stream, so ifyou're into cute web comics definitely go check that out. I think we will bereteating that, as the episode comes out so that you can all head over toour twitter and check that out, yeah absolutely Um. Another interestingthing. I've found this week guys and we've talked about this before and wediscusse it with aets of critical role, Um with tattoos and magical boons banthem. So this one comes from the R edit user depressed under score monkey three with Ah some. I don't know I wan to say:Um, Barbarian, Viking inspired type NorseTattoo Magic, but essentially what I would describe Thi Hazes, likeimagine, wizards having tattoos as their spellbook and maybe activatingmagic from that OP perspective. So the RI use here comes with two example:Tattoos, but I rune toget you guys's thoughts on the general idea of this. This is something that you've wanted to incorporate in your campaigns: s several ideas, all at once. First offyes, I've been ever since. Actually, I saw Mat mercer introduce that on theStream on critical role, I've been wanting to get some kind of officialcompedium for magical tatous. It sounds like thatis coming, at least in some format in telshis culture of everything, sosupersect Um. Second, a sorcerer that draws anytepower from tattoos is an awesome idea and I would love to make that Su plus, let's, let's put it on the list- Um the third I'm looking at thisparticular one that you've linked in again listeners. You should be able tofind this onor twitter. This is awesome, O my goodness, this just absolutelyscreams of north mythology and a kind of ritualistic tattooing for protectionand for eoffensive protection offence being agood defense kind of thing. It's so neat the idea that yeah you'reyou're ritually imbewing your body with magical energy that will comeout when you most need it. I love that idea and I've. Never I'venever seen it particularly done like this before 'cause. Looking atsomething like the critical rule. Example, IT'S BOT MOSTLY BEEN! U You get like a like a score increase. If you get a tattoo, you get some kind of a maybe a special bonus to savingForus, depending on the type to of Tattoo you get. This seems likesspecifically Yeh Youre, Tattoo activites at a certain time mm, and...

...that's just so cool. I love it. Ah, Ihaven't seen this one. I had seen the comic that you hared with Os Girles, but I haven't seen this one, and this is so cool yeah. Absolutely I would love to seethat kind of thing Um like put out in an actual format, so I could have someideas and go in that that would be sweet Um. I don't know how much I would be ableto just come up with that kind of thing on the fly. It might be interesting, maybe like specific H, daty like boons, or something like that. If, if, if your party become strong enough that you know you can get a boon for a god, maybe itcomes in the form of a Tattoo Um, that's permanently on your body kind ofthing, Um, instead of rings or whatever Um hm I do. I think that would bepretty cool. So I be good narratively too, because be something that you know when youlevel up as a character, you physically have to go to these locations to getyour tattoos or Somethingoo yes. Well, it's always those elementsthat you try to work with as a DM right to sort of pull players towards the extsort of story beat or element ripe. I like the idea- and Ithink often times these kinds of like H, Toch magical tattoos. We see them withthis sort of blue thorish energy right, so they're always tied into northmythology, but also Um, various Polynesian tribes and, u mm even uh like Amazonian, just ingeneral. Right like this, is something that' like? U Marking your body hasbeen seein throughout different cultures, so it does post an IING, an interestingidea of like a I would love. I would have loved tohave that Inchult, for example, Ri tat a little bit more and what kind ofmagics perhaps come from uh creatures like that, you know O. I actually based, I think,my first character, Um, that I ever did off of the Indreid chronicles Um, which had druids in it, and the druidswould go through a ritual where they would tattoo their body using thornsand like primitive forms of ink kind of thing, and they would tatch you thewhole body and then any time the tattoos would touch um the ground likemother earth. They could gain power from the earth through those likemarkings. Essentially one of those things that I think is dms e need toenforce a little it, not inforced, but we need to sort of introduce a little tbetter because we do have classes in this game that require preparation ofspells when you wake up righ like when you're talking about like paints in thebody. This could be part of like your daily makeup, routine. Right like thisis the spell as you're choosing to write on your body but um again, like I think uh. Maybe the habit with my group is wenever really started in that sense? I'm really looking actually like. I'm partI'm like I'm sad that likeot two annilation campaigns coming to an end,but also I'm really happy for ir, because I feel like, like I've, kind ofkept the style of that campaign going the way it was even though, like me, asa DM, I'm exploring so many different ideas, but just to keep it narratively, concise, I'm excited to like start working on different games with youguys and working on characters more. Like we've been talking about morerecently in the podcast I love. I love your idea of having a because onceyou're I've never played a wizard before I'm embarrassed to say, but I'mexcited to, and I've got one that I'm working on, but either of you correctme. If I'm wrong once you've added a page to a wizard spellbook like you, don't prnt daily spells right, you just have your smellbook h, Oso. I think howthis pubook works. Is You get a spellbook that you can writedown a list of infinite number of spells? Essentially, in it sure, as yougo through...

...the campaign, you can collect as manyas you want, but you still have to ready, like you have to memorize. Essentially the number ofspells that you're going to be using. For that day. You can pick and chooseeach day from the infinite list that you can create, and so that's howwizzers are kind of able to almost multiclass without multiclassing, because they can't technically learn spells that are outside of their classand put it into their spellbook Gotcho. I believe that that's that tie into thefact that you could learn many ritual spells, for example, and yes, I'v castas many of those because you s terribly, have those vituals written down in yourstellbook. But it's mor like those active, I need to cast fireball nowkind of spells which you need to sort of liat up in your in your Nogand forthe dayefactly, but you can have an infinite number of ritual spells forsure yeah or like, but you can prepare FROI and hen from the list of spells aswell. Yes, exactly so you can have any NUVER ardingtor your to your school ofMagic. I would imagine Wiha Hetm Mi, throw at you. Well, it's actually half the amount of timeto write down, spells from your school and half the amount of money that youwould have to spend on resourceense in order to learn it, but any other spelllike you can still learn them, whether they're part of your school of magic ornot. You just take Wanger to do it and that'll be so brutal. If you'replaying like the type of campaign where, as a wizard, you have to go and lookfor spell s if you're not reading, you're, not learning right, like yeahUm, an imagine right, everybody levels up great, you don't have any morespells. 'CAUSE Youare you haven't found any you haven't, read it seven months, man shouldn't have dumped intelligence. There you go a letter at Wizard, Oh gosh rid playdat ere for that Sousphone, but I would Um. I would like to play 'cause acharacter that I've kit of working on right now, like there's a couple spellsthat are like very intrinsic to their character, mmand that they would probably just always have refoardless of even if anew, better smell came along twit theterel Si a couple of signaturespells and getting like amblems of those tattooed almost likein place of a smellbook DM, allowing of course I think, wouldbe a really neat idea. That would be pretty cool one last thing to drop for you guys S,I think, is pretty neat. I know Britain, you played Y MTG back in the day, Jornathed, Jew Ahno. No, I didn't I mean I. I ieplayed a couple of games with friends here and there, but like not really soI didn't get into it, not really yeah. I didn't hurr a wallet wither, W Gos Idon IC. Okay ran this. Might Excite you a little it more than it does Duren, but it excited me a lot check. ND fiss out the dunders and dragons adventures inthe forgotten, realms magic. The gathering card editions, okay, sothey're, actually they're bringing dender to magic, they're, bringing theinditomagic that's crazy, interesting 'cause. They are I've been sofascinated with them doing the exact opposite, yeahringing magic into DND, Ots Taro. So far, we've Gone Ravnica I' I'm in a Ravniko campaignwith a couple of really good friends and that's been an amazing amount offun. Ah, I believe there's been some talk of Zendecar, but I might be makingthat up. It's it's pretty highly implied there alot of stuff from Strawdanbarovia kind ocrossz with Inastrad I kindoplanforors Um, MHM wow. I am...

I'm so interested and I know I don'twant to say that this is going to be the thing that gets me back into magicbecause I'm not going down that particularmoney rabbit hol again, but there there are thresso many times, especially in ourMagial, giving magic you're still giving mizars your money Cesia a them.Let me live M. there. There's been so many times where, in our RAVNICOcampaign, our DM has gotten a ton of inspiration just by taking out hismagic cards filtering through picking out one reading the Flavertextodmat andgoing Oky, that's a plot hook and then turning that in and spending like aliter. So writing that, out into like a full session, Te full sessions, I've camt across acouple of stores online, where DMSUSE UM they'll buy like like a pack ofmagic cards, shuffle that pick out the top five cards and they have to make astory with the creatures or cards that they'vepulled. That's cool! That's a really neat idea more, like a story prompting, but it also builds a magic, the gathering library, which we know likelythrougis value over the standard, thestandard ts that are in play onYeahum. I H. I find this really cool and interesting.I'd probably find it a lot more interesting if I was still into magic, but I do I'm really excited to see what the do. I see like the talk comment onhere I's talking of Otaum H, possibilities of planes, walkersfrom the Forgotten Roms O. seeing somebody like Morgacinin or Tasha themost recent addition to the books being a plan swalker. I think it would bereally neat excited to see what this looks like incards and I'm excited to supring. Some of those creative writing ideas, intomidnd planning sessions, but I think, I'm at a time far this segment Um. We will be retweating all of the linksthat we've discussed toay, so you guys can continue the conversation, but fornow Jordan yeah all right ness. Well, you see, Iam taking you to land beyond thought and raw material a'm, bringing you intothe spiritual realms, the outer planes, one might say, as we go throughdivining the DMG we're hitting up page fifty seven now and we're going to the yeah. What'scalled the outer planes, so we've just finished the innerplanes, which is theplan of water, fire, air and earth, and now we're hitting the more spiritual realms here so guys. This is. This is very, very like outside the box. Thinking here is whatyou got to go with Um. So if the innerplanes are the raw material andenergy that make up the multiverse, the outerplanes provide direction, thoughtand purpose for its construction. So this is why Um the outer planes are considered thehome of the gods or the deities the place where they exist, becausethey then use the raw material energy to then shape the universe in the waythat they see fit um so yeah. So these these realms areSuper Super Um, weird and also at the same time Um but yeah. So you guys are going to haveto bear with me as we kind of try to get through Um what these mean exactlym. so, let's see here, I think it talks alittle bit about m how appearances here...

...are deceptive, especially if the realm is perceptible. So some of these realms are almost imperceptible Um. But the thing is: is that the detiesthat exist in the outer planes? If you are traveling to them, they can reshape the world completelyor that plane completely as they see fit. So distance is virtuallymeaningless Um. You know you can take you know half a day to get from the top layer of the nine hells to thebottom layer of the nine hells, or maybe it takes you a month to get justacross one layer of Um, the Nigne house like it just it completely depends uponwhat the deities there decide that they want to happen at that particular time. So there is like a default Um. Sixteen places for the outerplanes and they're supposed to correspond withthe eight different alignments. So there's like two that kind of serveeach alignment. So I'm going to see how many of theseplaces have you guys heard of here, Munt Colestia, how about the twin paradises of Bitopia, the blessed fields of Elysia? Yes, 'veheard of elusia, I'm definitely from at Davin, but I get the chest of it now. Yeah. Ofcourse it's the same thin guys how about the Wilderness of the beastlands? No, but I want to the Olympian glades of Aboria the heroic domains of Easgard, I thinkSOE definitely norse mhm the ever changing chaos of limbo. Yes, yes, the wind swept depths of pandaemoniumshodocriticaral. One Juts: Yes, the infinite layers of the abyss. Yes,unfortunately, the Tarterian depths of Kasari Kasiri, carsery, Harsdera, Carceri tank S, O the grey waste of Hades MHM, the bleak eternity of gahenna l, the nine hells of Batour H. Yes, yes e, I healon ser, the minehells is a more common term for it, but it's of Batory, because that's like thefull name here- and I guess I didn't say the full name for Mauncelessia-It's the seven heavens of Mantsolesia. Yes still enough: how about the infinite battlefield ofArkaron, Akaron N, the Clockwork Nirvana of Mechanis? Yes,I have not and the Peaceable Kingdoms of Arcadia I feel groer than Ardyitayoa, so I'm hering, like Bradon, might haveheard of like half of them, not even it onthinkmaybe Carlos. I think you'veheard a little bit less than that, but like for me, I I you know, I'm with youthere, Carlos I hadn't heard of most of these. I mean like at least a I onlyheard of, and I knew the premise of it, but it's like it's not like somethingthat comes up intantque like all the time. You know. No, it doesn'tdefinitely a level seven d over heredoe Um yeah so like these are the Maine Sixteen, I guess the default onesand then beyond that, like you're allowed to create your own kind ofthing, Um, the planes are kind of separated into the upper planes and the lower planes. So the...

I guess the alignment of the differentplanes here or the different h yeah. The different planes is important. Um,the upper planes are the ones with good alignments and the lower planes areones with evil alignments, and I think it's really cool they get intoit a little bit later, but they talk about how you can end up with somepsychic disinance, while you're traveling through theserooms. I your character, if it's a good character and it's traveling through anevil domain Um. It actually talks here about there's an optional rule where,at the end of long rest spent in an incompatible plane, a visitor must makea DC constitution saving throw of ten on a failed. Save the creature gainsone level of exhaustion. So it's really interesting here how theallignments might actually come into play more based on whether you are a goodperson or an evil person, Um more so than the Lawfuller, the chaotic, which is kind of funny, because I think it's easier to tell the differencebetween lawful and chaotic than it is between good and evil. But I wish we'd read this before we gotinto our discussion of Um, the ALIGNEMENTURC was actually empiricallyuseful, yeah exactly her, it's an optional rule, so it doesn't have tohappen. That's tit seems more interesting to me it it does. It doeslike I, it would be kind of like it kind of makes sense to me like. Oh thishero, you know who is going around doing good stuff ends up in the ninehells on a quest. Well, I don't think that you know the rulers of the nine hells reallywant that hero on that plane really and so they're going to make it a bit ofmore harsh environment Um for them kind of thing that that kind of makes sense, or rather like everything about thatplane, would start speaking to them and saying, like you, don't belong herelike you know, this isn't meant for you. This is meantfor others right, and so you would start to feel that start to wear downon you and like everything. There is just horror and um awful terribleness Um and it just KindoGrat. It should grade against your soul 'cause. This is more of a spiritual, exp experience right. I just thought that was really reallyinteresting. I think so too MSO they've got. Let's see the upperplanes are home to a few different creatures. Specifically so here's where you're going to findthe angels, the Cuatas or the cootels and the pegasie are apparently the homecelestial creatures on the lower planes. You've got demons, you've got devils, you've got yougaloffs and their ilk. I love that word, Um Yeah! So I think it's kind ofinteresting- oh Oh, there's constructs on Mechanis, of course, and aberrationsare found in limbo. have any have you everheard of a slotty? Ah, yes, I I rea am against my uh heard of the Dragon Queen Campaigndecently. Recently those things ar that can get deadly that can get a character, ruiningly deadly MHM yeah I mean, if they're from one of theouter planes, I would assume that they're, pretty powerful beings h isn't tell yoned or crtzs on them. That's everybody gangstit to the Pallatand keep Youain that twenties m. let's see they talk about. So when weare imagining the auterplanes here we...

...have to kind of imagine them. A lot of these realms have multiple layers for the same plane sofor Mount Celestia, there's like seven tiers Um to this cake, so to speak, m the a for the nine hells there's likenine different layers and the abyss is supposed to have almost an infinitenumber um or seemingly infinite. Anyway. I don't know, would you run it asinfinite pro? I probably would infinite number yeah good luck, planning out every level thoughwannow. What do we find on this one HHAVE, moreAbess, you see nothing teesothing, just likean inteet starewell, where they just go back to the first room. They're like wecan do this as long as you want now, hey they actually talk about theinfinite staircase, Excesi yeah, so m traveling to theouter planes is done in three main ways. I guess Um. Thefirst is obviously the spells so astro production can kind of get you thereplane. Shifting can get you there or, if there's a particular portal thatUm that you find in in your world, that gets you to a specific spot. Usuallythe first layer, um of the nine hells would be the gateway for the nine housekind of thing, so a porter would lead there and the same with Mount Celestia. The first layer would be the gates where the portal is so you'd have to travel all the waydown or out all the way up. If you wanted to get to Um, you know the topof them out to Northo. You know most powerful of the beings or whatever itis that you're trying to find Um, but the other ways that you can getthere are the river sticks and the infinite staircase. So the infinite staircase is an extra dimensional spiral. Staircasethat connects the plains. An entrance to the infinite staircase usuallyappears as a nondescript door, so Carlos you don't have to describe itfor them. Amazing Itwasa, Lo, like that a a light hasbeen lifted off te DM shoulders. Abeyond. The portal lies a smalllanding with an equally nondescript stairway, leading up and down orn onThi script. Twice now, there's definitely OEI know so here comes thedescript part. The infinite staircase changes appearance as it climbs anddescends going from simple stairs of wood or stone to a chaotic jumble ofstairs hanging in radiant space, where no two steps share the samegravitational orientation, Nice. Yes, it is said that one can find one'sheart's desires on the infinite staircase through diligent searching ofeach landing. It's pretty cool Y, sad at Ami's,puzzle, Cube or Someshityou did say we were getting abstract with this withthe oderplaine stuff. Ayread about any of the planes, yet exactly harding theway to get there is already as how o you, even what yeahso apparently on any given plane. There can be multiple doors to the infinitestaircase, though the entrances aren't common knowledge and they areoccasionally guarded by Davas, sphinxes, ugolofs and other powerful monsters. M, apparently they're, also like mostlyhalf forgotten or places that nobody ever goes to. But, like I don't know,if I found an inpotent staircase I'd probably go around telling people like hey, guys, there's an infititestaircase here you can literally get to...

...heaven from here. Look I feel like there's some people sayingthat for thousands of years in any DNDE world- and nobody really follows: Don't e, whatever you say there, man, it's old, manzatic and is crazy, thetown drunk and all that yeah a so. The other way that we talkedabout was the river sticks Um. So I think this is really cool here. The river bubbles with grease foul floatsome and Putrid remains of battlesalong its banks, any creature other than a fiend that tastes or touches thewater is affected. By the feeble mind spell the DC of the intelligent savingthroat to resist this effect is fifteen. This is just a set thing. If you'regoing in the river sticks, you got to resist that feeble mind. You know ThosGinta, like white player, Tis every party. What's the water taste like if they touch the water thrigty, ifthey touch water or taste it yes, Kel te Bolt Yeah Mhm, Pung B, exactly the stick churns through the toplayersof Akaron, the ninehowls Gehenna Haides Carsuri, Carseri Rit, the abyss andPandamoniam the tributaries of the sticks, snake onto lower lawyers ofthis plane, um. So, for example, a tendril of the sticks, wines throughevery layer of the nine hells allowing passage from one layer of that planeinto the next. So they have sinister ferries thatfloat on the waters of the sticks that are piloted by skilld Um, if very menacing creatures M for a price. Thesepilots are always willing to carry passengers from one plane to another Um. Some of these people might be feends, while others are souls of the dead Um. I find that that's super interestingand I kind of wonder like where I might put a river stix in aworld like what would be a place that was, I don't know deadenough and yet also had water traveling through it that you could kind of havethe river sticks on on the material plane. The sewers and some like actuallymhm yeah that'd be cool. That's a good one M, let's see Yeh, so the other waysthat you could do. Um traveling, like the rirrerstricks inthe infinite staircase, are apparently the oer common ones, but you can alsodo like world tree style where the roots touch the lower planes and the branches reach up to the upper planesand it might be, or it might be possible to just walk from one planeinto another, depending on whatever cosmology you decide to use like visas reacted about at one point likeyou could have essentially all the planes in one world right MM and justhave like, for example, bout Celestou being like the tallest mountain in theworld that you have to climb yeah. So the last thing that I want to talkabout here is the other optional rule, which is a plane's influence, canaffect visitors in various ways such as causing them to take on personalitytraits or flaws that reflect the disposition of the plane or even shifptheir alignment to more closely match the native inhabitants. So each of the planes that we're goingto go through afterwards later in this...

...cocast is going to have m an optionalrule that will help make exp adventures experiences on these planes. Morememorable, Um yeah, so it'll it'll talk about likedifferent ways that new traits or personalities like flaws might appear in yourcharacters that you've been working on for so long. I I'm never sure how Ifeel about that, but I undersa like once you get up to the auterplanesthey're, going to start rubbing off on you in some kind of way right the RPlevel of your party, Yeah Yeah. I guess so that's true. I would M. I would prefer to do this in more physicalcharacteristic sense. I've already been toying around with that in my hold of the Draggon Queen Campaign.Carless can O test you if they've been affected by, like two of my playerswere bitten by a vampire and they were able to stave off the more negativeeffects of that, but h because of the H, the undead nature of the creature inthe necrotic nature of the creature they've been left with kind of thesepermanent scars of the fangs that bit them. So I can see walking around in theplains and you slowly almost start to morph and take on very, very faintphysical characteristics that ere indicative of that plane right, but asas a blanket rule, I'm really against telling my players how to play theircharacters. Yeah for sure for sure I I think like it starts to add, like certain traitsand certain flaws, I'm not. I haven't actually read ahead here too much, but I I I don't think that they'regoing to try and say hey your character is now a very good character and maybemaybe it only affects the players for Um while they're on that plane. Youknow. Yes, that's not a bad idea. Maybe it's like! Oh well, you know you're onthis plane that exudes this influence of light and goodness and beauty, so your character, justautomatically kind of absorbs that into their soul and just starts exuting thata little bit more than they would normally right mhmor if you're on thenine hells you know it. It is just pressing down on your soul and it andso you're, going to start to excreate that same, like ah darkness from yourself. I don't know I 'cause yeah, the other planes guysstarts to get a little bit up there in terms of what's really going on, but yeah. I think that's all I got forthis week. Bradon you want to take us back down toEarth a little bit. I sure, do and h. One thing: that'sthat's on these earth is advertisements. 'CAUSE SEGUES are weird faday's episode of triple advantagebrought to you by the elderdragon patron on DM skilled now sponsored bythe SA Society produced by the Rirl Saes society penned by our good friendMatnewman. The eldedragon patron is a new subclass option for the warlockfuaturing, a new patron option for you, several new eldish invacations to beused in your campaign, either with this patro or just outside of that and astapblock for a new type of Dragon, ose the alderdragon, a very, very dangerousand intelligent foe to throw at your party. Indeed, again, they can be foundon DM skilled or in any of the links on our social media pages. Now that wehave discussed that, let's jump into a today's discussion, talk of the town, which is where we discuss some ideas,...

...that we post to use ome questions thatwe posed outside to the society as a whole. We discuss our answers to thosand we listen to hear what you've said over the course the last week and the question that we pose this week. What is your favorite magic item that you've received in a campaign, because we've mentioned that a lot ofus have not necessarily played extreme highlevel campaigns. If you have an item that you've givento a player that you think is better to discuss, we can do that instead, butwhoever wants to start to go for it sure I guess I can start Um. Let's see, I think magic items are something that are thatcan be really awesome, but usually it requires a particular character to really takefull of full use of it. I guess right like aplus three sword is an awesome item, but you know if I'm a wizard, it'spractically useless for me form. So I think that the coolest item that I'vegotten Um that really mesh with my character, was a boots of speed Um. Iwas a monk with a mobile speed mobile feet. I was moving like crazy guys, like my goodness, tenminutes as a bonus action. You can turn this on for ten minutes and now yourwalking speed is automatically doubled so now, instead of like, I think I hadlike fifty five or sixty now, I'm looking ato hundred and twenty feet, perturn regular, walking speed. So nowI add in I ash oyeah now I throwin a dash two hundred and forty no a bonusaction step of the wind, Oh Gosh, we're getting there kind of thing throw on aHaye spell. I was moving like I was just moving. It was awesome.I loved it. I felt like the flash guys I was going to say at that point. Ifeel like you need to do some mouth to see if your body can even hold upagainst. Yes, O know what you're moving exactly it was IEK aspirate a resurrection. IHERE WEGO yeah. No, I I it was just awesome to beable to move at that speed and, like I would just like clear through a roomreal fast. If you guys wanted an item like there was a lot of like quests, where we go and be like. Oh, we need this item, I'd be like okay, guys. Igot this e'r run, get into the room, grab athing run out and no one would be able to touch me 'cause. I was just in andout of a room before anyone could blink m yeah. It was super cool. U How it's not like it's more useful. Ifound it was more useful, definitely like outside of h outside of combatlike in combat it's great, like I could move in and out of combat no problemlike, but it wasn't like. I was running around and like it gave me extra, powerful, hits or anything along those lines. So I would still only be able tomake those same number of attacks and stuff like that, so it wasn't h, itwasn't too overpowering and most of the time archers could still keep up withyou UM. So but I'm a monk so catch those arrows was great, fantasticloved. It T I want him back cartless. What do you think so now, for the most part I haven't played intoo many high level games to have received many madical litems. I'mexcited to use Um the two CAPES IE purchased in h, the? U Port, of theDragon Queen Campaign, Britain...

...more readily and more consistently nowwith my character, but I haven't quite yet gotten to to that m. So I thinkthat I have to dial the clock back a little bit to I remember this moment, but it was back when I ran a Um battl royale style yeah. It's Leeleal, Iloved that Onn. I should have won so the thing the thing about that Batralto the listeners. Um is that I allowed this as when Istarted playing the ind and I was still sort of trying to get a little bit ofthe feel of the game. So you know I figur'd run a tenth level battle royaland also let your players pick a magic item vetdered by the DM from the DMG.Now, when I say vetted by the DM Um, it's hard to vet items that you don'ttruly understand the power of until they're being used in combat- and Ifeel like I remember specifically when Cam was using- I believe he got some sort of bagpipesof h or harp. So it was a Bartish instrument Um. He cast fly on himself and started justRi hireballs on the rest of the the contenders Um- and it's happened to mebefore, which is just like how powerful flying is in this game when nobody elsecan do it, but I think that that was one of the better moments Um with magicitem usage. When I t leas have been involved in the game as at dam, atleast because I was shook to see I to find how this battle wasn't justcompletely unfair. With regards to this bard now, just raining fire from above so th, the rill almost took him down. Iwas so close. I forgot it was noit was definitelytight, but it just goes to shot, like Alia since then righ like Um, that'spartially, why I'm a little bit slower to introducemagical items because there's a lot of emergent behaviors that combine thatyou can stop being able to plan for is at the end, didn't someone take likethe nine live stealer, or something like that. I think so. Some that item is so cool. I'd, definitelybe willing to run something like that again. They're super easy to run. Imean it's just like there's no prive involved. I don't worry O here B, you you justmediate. Yes braiden. What does a society have to say? First off, I'm gont give my quickthoughts, which is thet I' Gin to cheat a tiny bit 'cause. I'm not receivedthis yet, but Imona look out for them in our tombof nihilation campaign that you're running Carlos, a couple of the playershave picked up some items which seem to invite possession by the ninetricktegads of Omu and am I'm sure that there's either someboons or some drawbacks going on behind the scenes. That's I'm not prety too'cause. I haven't seen one of these items, yet the stoplock of it at least, but what it does that I've seen is the God comes to life in your head andstarts talking to you and starts attempting to influence your decision. So Jordan, your character has a very cowardly God. I know I said it's soagainst my original character and is constantly trying to get out of everysituation. Meanwhile, our barbarian has a very almost like a war God type personI very like crusher enemies. Just like go head first into everything and itsmade him.

It's inspired him at least o play quitea bit more reckless and I'm excited to see if, if I end up with one of theseiens, but I love the Um, not knowing the boons on it. I justlove the R P aspect of that. I love that you've now kind of got these thisextra dimension. Almost this entire second personality- that's been addedonto yours and you have to try and balance that out with your own personalarpistyle, which I think is awesome mhm, but looking at what the society said, there's one answer that I do want to focus on that I think, is going Ta kind,O open up a larger question that I have for us Um, and that is from a good friend of allof us, Cev steart on instragram. He was describing an item that it made his character no longer viable in his campaign he received as as the reasonably highlevel rogue and his party. He received an item known as the ring of winter. Ihad never heard of this. He sent me a little bit of information that he wasgiven on it. It is essentially a ascentient ring that is imbued with a chaotic, evil presente and when you put this ring on it willattempt to dominate you, it will attempt to essentially make you into its own, like chaotic, thirsting for destruction self. Unless you succeed on this checkagainst it, I keve in his campaign, succeeded on this check, sohe was not dominated by the creature, but he was able to stillaccess the boons of this of this rink. Now this ring has aridiculous laundry list of Boons, so I'm not going to go into all of them ofdetails. I'm just GOINGNO, I yellowed a couple of hem non detection, so can't be magically located frozen timeas you wear it, you don't age, Oho, cold immunity as written magic, there's,actually, twelve charges in the ring and a certain amount of spells t areinate to the ring, mostly Col type SPELLSAS. You can imagine that you can cast out of the ringindependent of your own madical abilities m. In his case he was a roquelike I said so. The sexa just hadded, this new dimension of spell casting toUm. It specifically says, like other properties and there's it kind of givesa couple of Um, very brief kind of plot Hooki ideas oflike what you could throw in that you recould also do um all very powerful things, andespecially at the time. The way that Kevs told the story to me was Um. Imisinterpreted in the first place, I thought that he had literally turnedinto a God. He did not, who just got thest ridiculous amounts of boots, butwhat that essentially did to the character it put him so far and abovethe rest of the party he had to c his character had to step away fromthe Party become the all powerful leader in this secret spy network thathe was affiliated with and replace it with another character, because he hadbecome way too powerful for what the party was ideally dealing with. Have you I've done this? So I'm curiousto see. Have you ever given your players, an item that potentiallyor was ultimately game? Breaking I can't say I have now mind you. I can't say I have in the sense that, for example, with regets, O Medusas hadbeing cut off and being used as a makeshift magical item.

I've definitely allowed that, but Ialso was never going to allow that item to be used repeatedly because itcreates situations where it's the only thing you default to right. I don'tmind using it to get out of the situation where you guys got out oflast right and having that be a wonderful use for such a powerfulmagical item. But if I were to l let let you have that item throu ot, theentire campaigns. It would really nollify any sort of mob tat. Al Themconfer at you any sort of monsters in general that, because that face can bekept like. If, if you look at the effects of it that face it just needsto be looking in the general direction of the enemies. It's an ongoing, savethat they would have to do meaning more most enemies would likely fail at somepoint or another, meaning that you would essentially just win at any pointof the game. Enemies would have to be changed tohave some sort of petrification immunity for them to be able to contendwith a party at that one. So, like I like in this case Um, I think having it definitely helps theparty, but I wasn't going to let it become aproblem where it became too powerful and game to have at least the way thatI would, or I would even introduce monsters that are stronger right or people would start noticingthat you have a very strong kind of item. rigt those scenes probably standout in a world like this mm MHM. I don't. I don't think I have given any playersm any game breaking ones. I E I've seen ones that were definitely like morepowerful than some of the other items that people had in some of my one shotsUm, but sometimes it just comes down to theroller dice and in that instance the thei roles of the dice were notthat great. So it didn't end up mattering how powerful the item was.Really it just h. If it doesn't work, it doesn't work right M. I mean most of the time too I, when I'mgiving away magical items, I try to make it as R P um related as possible. So I think one of my favorite itames thatI gave h was to my brother, who was playing a monk as well. I gave him theoil of slipperiness and he decided that when he used the oil of slipperiness,it was going his his whole body is just bald and shiny and he would just pourit and lather it all over himself and he would just run around basicallybucknaked M, and that would be his oil how he usedthe oil of slipperiness, which essentially gives you the spell freedomof movement and a few other Turen affecting things, and it was just really funny Um for hischaracter. Just imagining like this. He would just pull it out of his bag. Youknow or whatever and then just like, pour it slow motion over himself andlike Lather, it everywhere and just yeah. It was just fun 'm. In a I mean a a similar situationto what YOUV described, we're Hof, given a player, an item where it couldpotentially be gamebreaking but d, the DC that ave set on the rules that hehas to make in order to use it or obscenely high to the point where, if at lower levels, he could get superridiculously lucky and get them, and that would be cool, getthe get the boons of this item. But it's meant to kind of as as heprogresses and as he levels up the stets that if he chooses to level up the stat thathe knows is affiliated with this particular item. In order to use itit'll get easier and easier to do...

...because he's becoming more and morepowerful. But it does definitely if, if he had gotten super super lucky everytime, he use that it's it's a very, very powerful item with a lot of gamebreaking potentials, so o Kevin, it's yeah, it's actually, that is that is him as well.Everybody stopped giving Kevin powerful magic items, fire onest, but that concludes this week's talk ofthe town and thereby this week's episode of triple advantage take a lookon our social media pages.
